Ok ok, I'll fly to New York and suit up at second for the Crew tomorrow.

I couldn't do any worse.

There are three things America will be known for 2000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music and baseball. They're the three most beautifully designed things this culture has ever produced. Gerald Early

Conrad actually isn't bad as a RH off the bench. Unfortunately he's been starting. And I don't even know if he's hit RH yet.

edit: Apparently he's 0-6 as a RH. But he's got a .762 career OPS RH.

This is Jack Burton in the Pork Chop Express, and I'm talkin' to whoever's listenin' out there.

Only 16 months remaining on that lovely Ramirez contract. He's just all kinds of terrible. Fun times, blowing mega millions on him....

Just to remind you, I'm pretty sure it's a 3 year deal with an option for the 4th year.

For some reason, my first inclination is to only count baseball months and ignore the off-season. So, 16 more baseball months, 28 actual calendar months. Even more depressing.

Brooks Conrad is a pretty bad player. I certainly hope the only reason people were clamoring (ok, that may be a bit too strong of a term) for him to make the team out of ST is because the other IF options were crappy.

pretty much. i thought he was less crappy and more versatile (relative to the other bench options, not Taylor Green who I did not want up as the 24/25th man)

Jeff Suppan, Miguel Batista. Who's next, Doug Davis? Pirates would be smart to bring him up just in time to face the Brewers.

This team is bad. Seriously bad. It was fitting that the Ramirez play came against the Mets. It looked like a lowlight from the 62 Mets, the worst team in modern history.

Brooks Conrad is a career minor leaguer so should anyone be surprised?

Anyone could have won with last year's team, ANYONE!

The true value of RR should be measured on how he handles this year's crapfest of a team.

The fact that we just signed him to an extension sickens me.

So basically: when the team is good and wins it's because of the team. When the team is not so good and they don't win it's because the manager. Got it.

I'll say this again - Terry Francona had already won two World Series with Boston yet couldn't get that team (that had tons of talent) into the postseason last year. It's not that easy to just get your team into the playoffs and then get them to win.

If you don't want to give the manager any credit for when a team is doing well that's fine, but then you can't come back here and give all the blame to the manager when things aren't going well.

I was at this game, and while I'm sure it's one we'd all like to move on from, I thought I'd leave a few comments.

First, there weren't a lot of Brewer fans, but our section had 10 or so in about 4 groups. My wife and I were only marginally identifiable as Crew fans, but we were treated well by those who noticed our logos and enjoyed commiserating with the Brewer fans right next to us. Booing of Braun was perfunctory, but it was a tiny crowd, and the Brewers are just so bad I think there isn't much fun in booing. It was worse in Pittsburgh last year. I called the upcoming squeeze play while Conrad was still batting. I'm no genius, so that's a pretty sad statement, but Izturis' bunt was sadder. I wasn't a fan to begin with, but Error-Miss Ramirez has lost me. That drop on the run down was just pathetic, it was embarrassing to be cheering for them at that point. It was nice to see Braun get on and steal a base. At least we got something. The trip out and back from Times Square is really easy, for those who might be thinking about heading for a Mets/Brewers game sometime.

You may run like Mays...
