Giants announcer on Melky Cabrera foul ball on the 3B side:

"Could be playable... Although Ramirez decided that it's not... He was waiting for somebody else to get there."

Cabrera follows with an RBI triple and a run scored.

That's awesome. He wasn't going to get to it, but he basically showed no effort. Pretty sad. The kind of thing that could actually affect team culture eventually, IMO.

I don't really want to open up a can of worms here, but is Greinke really the kind of pitcher we want to sign to a long term, big bucks type of contract that could cripple us in the future?

I want to believe in the guy, I really do, but he is sometimes so unspectacular, it worries me to tie up a ton of cash in him.

There's absolutely no way I'd sign him to a contract worth the kind of money he wants. He's not worth it at all. Not many pitchers are. The Brewers especially can't afford to do it. They should start talking to Marcum on a 3 year deal, maybe with an option if we have to. The fact that negotiations with Greinke ended tells me the talks went past the dollar amount Melvin was comfortable with.
