Not to be a pessimist, but I would have rather heard "bruised" knee rather than twisted. Twisted implied he did it before hitting the wall, as we feared, and probably increases the chance it's a longer term injury.

I can't believe the Brewers have just one hit, because Volquez has been far from great tonight. The park has stolen at least 3 extra base hits, two would-be homers at Miller Park.

Not a bad trade by the Padres though, because this is a place he can probably succeed throughout an entire season.

He'll come back looking like the hulk Im sure -blue

I looked into that quite a bit and no, hes going to suck, because a slightly lower HR rate half the time doesnt help much when you walk among the most in baseball. There are times, about once a game, when he literally cant throw a strike for 6-10 pitches.

He might make a great reliever though

Well, you have to imagine he pitches with a little more confidence knowing that hard hit balls here won't be automatic homeruns. That's why a lot of marginal pitchers elsewhere come to San Diego and find success.

We'll see, he's off to a pretty nice start.

In limited PT, Aoki has not squared many balls up

Are we really starting this after 26 ABs, a 768 ops with a home run, some really pesky ABs, from pinch hitting and maybe 2 random starts?

I agree, I really like what Aoki has brought to the table. He's still a far better option than Morgan. Gomez seems to be leading the pack though.

The home plate ump may suck, but that was a great call by the second base ump on the Braun steal.

Bill after watching the first replay- "That's a good throw by Hundley and I'm not sure what the second base umpire was looking..." :rolleyes

Some innings you could send Craig Counsell at the plate without a bat and Volquez would walk him. I thought that same logic, that maybe that park would let him throw strikes more, but it just doesnt/wont. He isnt capable of adapting an approach like that anyway.

I believe I prefaced my Aoki comment with "in limited PT". And slap hitters can square up balls...they just usually end up being hard ground balls or liners over the infield, not dribblers. It was just an early observation. Not saying I don't think he's capable of more.

Every time I see a bunt I can't help but think of the post-game tutorial Davey Nelson did about bunts a couple years ago. Barrel above the handle. Barrel above the handle. Barrel above the handle, Travis.

LOL at Gameday. Said Marcum still has plenty left in tank because his fastball is sitting at 84 over the last 10 pitches.

Definitely laughed at that too. That scout thing is a decent concept, but I haven't been very impressed with it. It makes conclusions based on this season, which is a crazy small sample size.
