2012-04-22 Rockies (Guthrie) at Brewers (Gallardo), 1:10 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-1]

I think him missing that call may have actually saved the Crew, all things being equal Of course, you never know how things transpire differently with the Hart AB if the situation is 2-on, no out, so "all things being equal" is never a really place to argue from.

EDIT: Did I hear Ryan Braun's narration take a huge dig at the Cardinals in that intro? (I hadn't seen that before, if they've been showing it regularly)

I missed it, what'd he say?

There was a point when he said (this was a part of a montage) something to the effect of "We played against the best/teams we thought were the best" (cut to Carlos Gomez scoring to win the NLDS) "and teams who thought they were the best." (cut to Cardinals clinching NLDS).

I could've heard it wrong. It's kind of an odd thing to say.

It was something about the best team and a team that thought they were the best, referring to the cards. First time I've seen it so I think it was just because of the ceremony.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

This ump is horrible. Terribly inconsistent.

Yeah Tichenor is pretty much flipping a coin back there

It's like he thinks the plate should be shifted over a couple inches toward the right handed batters box. He keeps calling ones two inches inside (to RHers) strikes, but is basically giving nothing off the outside corner.

I really wish Brian and Bill would stop talking like Morgan has had terrible luck hitting this year. They keep mentioning his hard hit balls right at people, which often times seem to be moderately hard hit groundballs to the right side of the infield. Aoki anytime please.

Yep, exactly.

Nyjer's Ks are up this year, but his BABIP is ridiculously low. I'd like to see more Aoki myself, but I think it's fair to say that Nyjer 's numbers will likely improve quite a bit.

Nyjer has 1500 PA against RHP with a line of .305/.357/.393. Aoki has 18 (very good) plate appearances this season. I also would like to see a little bit more Aoki, especially while Morgan is struggling (K rate up a little, hitting a lot of ground balls)....but I think calls to replace him in the platoon are premature. Each of the next two series are against 2 RHP and 1 LHP, if I had to guess we'll see each guy out in CF for one game (like happened this series). I'm more than OK with that, and then as the season goes on/samples get larger the team can adjust accordingly.

But I think over the course of a week (assuming no off days) we should more or less see Morgan get 3-4 starts, Gomez get 2, Aoki getting 2-3 starts (spelling Hart every other week or so)
