Narveson to DL- Latest: Officially Out for the Year (Reply 81)

There was an update from McCalvy on Sunday on brewers.com --

Mat Gamel is not the only injured Brewer making significant progress this week. Left-hander Chris Narveson, sidelined since April with a season-ending shoulder injury, has begun a throwing program and is hoping to resume mound work before the Brewers break for the winter.

Narveson played catch on Sunday for the fourth time since his May 1 surgery for a torn rotator cuff.

"We're just playing catch right now, just like we're getting ready for a season," Narveson said. "Hopefully, by the end of the season we're just starting to get off a mound."

That's great about Narveson. If he can come back and contribute next year, that would be a bonus. Before he actually turned into a decent starter, I always thought he'd be a good LOOGY. From 2009-11, lefties had a .663 OPS (versus a .772 OPS for righthanders). The long ball has especially been a problem for his - righties hit 40 during that span (1141 ABs) while lefties only hit 5 (on 311 ABs).

I'm not counting on Narveson. He never threw hard to begin with, and we'll see how he's throwing next spring. But if he can make a comeback, that would be great.

Thanks, missed that. I assume the Brewers will offer arbitration then.
