Brewer Fans going to Wrigley Field

Dnye23
I decided to take a small group of friends (one is a Cubs fan) down to Chi-town for a Brewers vs. Cubs matinee on Thursday, August 30th. We plan to sit in the left bleachers, which means we're thinking of leaving Milwaukee around 6-7am. I bought 12 tickets and so far 8 are accounted for in my group but still waiting on a couple more confirmations. This got me thinking a little more and of course this would be the perfect place to organize something. Anyone interested in joining us? 1:20pm first pitch, have to get there when the gates open since the bleachers are a 'first-come, first-serve.' Bleacher tickets are $38 plus $12 convenience fees.

Sounds like a good time, but I will most likely have to work. But FYI, bleacher tickets are already going for $19 for this game on Stubhub. I would guess they get down to around $10 by August, so I wouldn't necessarily go rushing out to get these just yet.

I agree, if you want to get cheap tickets go to stubhub or craigslist. I bought them through the cubs because it's the most reliable way of getting 12 hard tickets. Bought them on the 11th and got them on the 16th.

I really want to fill up those left field bleachers with as many brewer fans as possible on August 30th. If we can get like 25-30 people to committ, we could get a bus to take us all down there.

This game is a few weeks away now, just wondering if there is any interest yet. I do have a few tickets to sell also.

To anyone that has taken the trip to Wrigley, what is the best way to get down there? I don't feel like driving so we would like to take the train or a bus. Know of any good pricing transportation we could use?

The Amtrak is probably easiest, though you have to walk through the loop (a nice walk actually provided you exit Union Station out of the north end since Wacker Drive is torn up at Jackson St still) to the Red line and take it for 20-30 min north. If you can drive part of the way, you can get on the Purple line. I wouldn't really recommend the Metra, that's just too much work in my opinion since you would have to drive, park, get on the Metra, then still walk through the loop to the Redline.

If it were me going (and coming from Milwaukee), I'd take the yellow line. It's one of the more cost-effective options as you only pay $2.25 each way for the whole train ride from there to Wrigley. It's about an hour and a half drive from Milwaukee straight down 94 (and right off the freeway) to the yellow line. From there it's probably about 45 minutes of train riding until the stop for Wrigley.

The purple line would also be an option, though I tried taking that back in June when the Brewers were playing the Sox and ran into an issue where part of the track was out of service due to maintenance/construction, so I had to get off the train, get on a bus, then get back on the train at Howard (which significantly added to my travel time and created a huge hassle). I'm not sure if that part of the Purple Line is still closed or not.

I still have 3 tickets left if anyone wants them, $40 each.

We've decided to drive down to Skokie, then yellow line to Howard, then red line to Addison. Anyone that wants tickets could meet at my house in Milwaukee or in Skokie or at Wrigley. I see there are a few Saz's party buses going down that day also so we should have a decent showing of Brewer fans.

I'm way too busy at work this week to be able to help you out, but I found out that my 67 year old aunt, who for some reason is now a Cubs fan*, is going Thursday and very excited about it. Since she'll apparently be rooting for the dark side, I don't suggest you give her a shoutout. ;)

*I didn't even know she followed baseball, much less that team. Better than STL, I guess. She has long been regarded as kind of the crazy aunt (even before her baseball preference was known).

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Just a heads up, bleachers are going for $10 on the street right now if you are planning to try to sell them around the stadium. I'd imagine they get down to $5 right before game time.

Had an awesome time, but obviously the outcome was disappointing once again. Front row left field, got fried in the sun a little bit even with sun screen, apparently I was shown on the FSN broadcast twice, and our girls got a wave from Braun. We were talking about making this a yearly thing. Only problem I had, we showed IDs at the gate to get a wristband. Then in order to buy a beer, we still get the "we card 35 and under". One worker gave us an attitude when we questioned the wristband thing. Pretty worthless if you ask me, must be an Illinois thing.
