VIERA, Fla. - The Brevard County Manatees dropped their second game in a row to the Dunedin Blue Jays on Friday night at Space Coast Stadium, by the score of 4-1.

Manatees' starter Hiram Burgos, who made his first start of the season, did not factor into the decision as he threw six shutout innings. He allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out four.

Some small ball gave the 'Tees the lead in the bottom of the sixth as Reggie Keen led off the inning with a single and then Nick Shaw followed with a walk. T.J. Mittelstaedt laid down a picture-perfect sacrifice bunt in front of the catcher on the third base side to advance both Keen and Shaw 90 feet.

Cody Hawn would drive a pitch out to right field for a sacrifice fly to score Keen and move Shaw to third. Brevard County was unable to do anymore damage though as Miguel Velazquez flew out to right to end the inning.

Brevard County would hold the lead until the top of the eighth when Dunedin would score four runs off of Greg Holle. The Blue Jays took the lead with two outs and runners on second and third as Dunedin's Marcus Knecht singled to left field to score Oliver Dominguez. A second run would come in on the play as Mittelstaedt couldn't field the ball cleanly. Dunedin scored two more in the frame to pad their lead to 4-1.

Brevard County tried to start a rally in the bottom of the ninth as Mike Walker and Shawn Zarraga led the inning off with back-to-back singles. Scott Krieger grounded into a double play and two batters later Keen flew out to end the threat, the inning and the game.

The Manatees recorded just five hits and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position. Through eight games, Brevard County is hitting just .215 which is second-worst in the Florida State League. Conversely, the Manatees' pitching staff has an earned run average of 2.57, which is fourth-best in the FSL.

Brevard County will look to avoid the sweep against Dunedin in the series finale on Saturday night at 6:35 p.m.

Austin Ross (0-0, 1.80) will toe the rubber for the Manatees as he makes his second start of the season. He allowed one run on five hits in five innings of work on Monday against Lakeland.

Dunedin will counter with righty Sam Dyson (1-0, 4.50). Dyson allowed three earned runs in six innings of work in his first start of the season on Monday against Daytona.
