Just watching on Gamecast, but to have a man on third twice with 1 out and not score is frustrating. Especially since the Cubs were able to hit a sac fly in their only chance. Just wish Dempster would get knocked out of the game so we can beat up on their bullpen. We just can't hit this guy for no apparent reason. As I type this, Aoki has a 10 pitch AB, followed by 2 outs on 5 combined pitches from Morgan/Weeks.

Edit: And now Ramirez makes an out on the first pitch. That's 4 outs in 7 pitches. I'm fine with being aggressive but when you know you're facing a guy that we historically haven't hit, and they have a horrible bullpen...you'd think working that count might be helpful. 2 pitch AB for Gamel. 5 outs in 9 pitches.

Dempster does this all the time against the Brewers - guys don't want to get in the hole against him and have to deal with his split. Trouble is if he's hitting his spots they still don't get good swings on him. Teams that have success against Dempster don't mind hitting behind in the count because that's typically when Dempster starts throwing alot of waste pitches trying to get guys to swing and miss.

Well Gallardo has atoned pretty well for a crappy opening day start. Only a one run game, top of the order up now, and we have plenty of ammunition on the bench. Hopefully we can stratch across a run against Dempster and then get into the bullpen.

Listening in on the game. I haven't seen much of Aoki yet but he sounds like a guy we could use in the lineup. He has a good eye, can take a lot of pitches and make contact. I would like to see him batting leadoff again tomorrow, with Braun & Hart back in the lineup, and Weeks hitting 2nd.
