Brevard County: RHP Austin Ross at Lakeland (Tigers), 5:30 PM gametime

Sorry, no audio for this series.

Once again this season, Brevard does not have its own audio coverage. It appears two teams in the Manatees North Division (within which the majority of games are played) have audio, and all six teams in the South Division have audio (at least for their home games), so there will be opportunities to listen to approx. 70% or Brevard's games this season, just all from the opponent's perspective. There are no Florida State League games on MiLB.TV this year.

Wisconsin: RHP David Goforth at Burlington (Athletics), 6:10 PM pre-game, 6:30 gametime

Chris Mehring is back to do his customary fantastic work as the Voice of the Rattlers. Follow him on Twitter @CMehring; we'll link to Chris' infamous blog often -- Rattler Radio.

MiLB.TV -- for subscribers; Wisconsin is one of only two (Great Lakes) Midwest League clubs that have all their home games available via MiLB.TV; Chris' call provides the audio. So for the $39.95 season-long package, fans in Brewer Nation can watch all Sounds games, all Timber Rattlers home games, and 24 Stars' road games (one Helena series this summer, too).

Final: Jacksonville (Marlins) 7, Huntsville 4

Huntsville Box Score

It doesn't seem that long ago when R.J. Seidel was the Brewers 16th round pick in the 2006 draft does it? He retired the Suns in order until the 3rd when a looping fly ball fell, he walked a batter, then gave up HR and was promptly removed from the game. He went 2.2IP with 2H, 3ER, 1HR, 1BB, and 2SO. I'm unsure why he was pulled with only 48 pitches unless he hit his inning pitch count, my initial reaction was his removal had to be performance related. He gave up the HR to Jeff Dominguez a SS, who didn't have a hit prior to his HR. Josh Stinson came on in relief and pitched into the 5th before running into some trouble and getting pulled. Josh's line; 2IP, 3H, 2R, 0ER, 3BB, and 2SO. Darren Byrd replaced Stinson going 1.1 IP with nothing but 1 strike out in his line. Jesus Sanchez struggled in his 2 innings giving up 5H, 2ER, and a HR.

The Stars actually outhit the Suns 14 to 10 and at one point had 8 hits without scoring a run. Anderson De La Rosa and Lee Haydel both pounded out 3 hits, Haydel adding a 3B. Kentrail Davis, Jeff Bianchi, and Scooter Gennet had 2 hits a piece, Gennett did walk (his first) and poke a 2B as well. Brock Kjeldgaard was back in the line-up today going 0-3 and was pulled for Khris Davis during a double switch which looks like it will be a recurring theme this season, LF seems to be the position of choice for the double switches in the early going. The defense wasn't very good, there were 2 errors, both of which directly led to runs charged to Stinson.

Stars Struggle in Series Finale

Huntsville Stars

JACKSONVILLE, FL- Another potential Huntsville comeback fell a bit short on Monday afternoon, as the Stars fell to the Jacksonville Suns by a score of 7-4 in the rubber match of a five-game, season-opening series.

Jacksonville got the scoring started in the third inning, as shortstop Jeff Dominguez snapped an 0-for-12 slump to start the season with a 3-run home run off of Huntsville starting pitcher R.J. Seidel to give the Suns an early lead.

After the Suns plated two more runs in the fifth to make the score 5-0, the Stars offense finally woke up. In the sixth inning, catcher Anderson De La Rosa and center fielder Lee Haydel singled to start off the frame. They were eventually brought home by back-to-back RBI singles by left fielder Khris Davis and right fielder Kentrail Davis to cut the Suns lead to three.

In the seventh, the Stars diminished the Suns’ lead to one as De La Rosa and Haydel struck again with an RBI single and an RBI triple respectively.

Unfortunately, that is as close as Huntsville would get though. An RBI single by Suns catcher Kyle Skipworth in the seventh inning and then a solo home run from first basemen Curt Smith in the eighth inning would add needed insurance runs for the Suns to roll to their second consecutive victory.

For Jacksonville, Omar Poveda earned his first win of the year after giving up just two runs over 5.2 innings. Evan Reed notched his second save of the season with a final two scoreless innings. Huntsville starter Seidel fell to 0-1 on the season after giving up three runs in 2.2 innings pitched.

In terms of offense, the Stars pounded out 14 hits, including three apiece from De La Rosa and Haydel. Kentrail Davis, second basemen Scooter Gennett, and shortstop Jeff Bianchi each added two hits. Huntsville also left 11 runners on base.

The Stars will travel to Birmingham to start a five-game series with the Barons, AA-Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, on Tuesday starting at 7:05 CT. Huntsville will look to LHP Dan Merklinger (0-1, 3.38 ERA) while the Barons counter with RHP Nestor Molina (0-1, 4.50 ERA).

***

Molina is the prized prospect the ChiSox netted from the Jays in the Sergio Santos deal. With the Southern League's all five-game series set-up, Merklinger will face nothing but aces for these first few series, eventually circumstances among clubs will alter their rotations. -- Jim

'Tees hold on to beat Lakeland, 5-4

04/09/2012 9:40 PM ET

By Frank Longobardo / Brevard County Manatees

LAKELAND, Fla. - A two-out three-run home run by Mike Walker in the top of the ninth broke a 2-2 tie and Brevard County Manatees were able to hang on to beat the Lakeland Flying Tigers 5-4 on Monday night at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland.

Brevard County was down 1-0 going into the seventh inning and had been held to just one hit up to that point. T.J. Mittelstaedt was able to get the 'Tees on the scoreboard in the inning with a solo homer to right to tie the game.

The Manatees would take a 2-1 lead in the eighth as Reggie Keen's two-out double scored Walker. Walker led off the inning with a walk and moved up to second on a sacrifice bunt by Shea Vucinich and then to third on a ground out by Shawn Zarraga.

Lakeland tied the game in the bottom of the inning thanks to a two-out bloop single by Daniel Fields off of Alan Williams, which scored Wade Gaynor.

In the top of the ninth, Nick Shaw led the inning off with a single and would move to second on a sacrifice bunt by Mittelstaedt. Cody Hawn was then intentionally walked by Bruce Rondon, so the Flying Tigers could get a righty-righty match-up with Scott Krieger. That moved paid off as Krieger struck out swinging.

Rondon then had to face the left-handing hitting Walker and Walker proceeded to hit a three-run homer to right and Brevard County took a 5-2 lead.

Casey Medlen then came in to close the game in the bottom of the ninth and gave up two runs and put the tying run on first base, but he was able to shut the door for his second straight save.

Starting pitcher Austin Ross did not factor into the decision as he went five innings and allowed one run on five hits, while walking one and striking out four.

The Manatees and Flying Tigers will be back in action in Lakeland on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. for the middle game of their three-game series.

2011 first round draft pick Taylor Jungmann (1-0, 1.80 ERA) will make his second professional start on Tuesday night. He went five innings and allowed one run in Brevard County's opening day win against the Daytona Cubs last Thursday night.

For Lakeland, southpaw Shawn Teufel will take the mound. Last season, Teufel went 4-5 with a 3.78 ERA in 22 appearances for the Flying Tigers in 2011. He was 1-0 with a 2.51 ERA in three appearances against the 'Tees last season.

Box Score

Austin Ross got the start and was very good. He is back in High-A to start so he needs to impress early to stay on the SP prospect map. A more loaded system may have already moved him permanently to the pen, but the Brewers still have hope for him. After Ross came three of the system's more legit relief prospects in RHP Eric Marzec (24), LHP Alan Williams (22) and RHP Casey Medlen (22). All three scuffled. In the end, Williams got the win and Medlen got the save. Go figure.

The hitters were having trouble with Mark Sorensen for the first 6+ innings until T.J. Mittelstaedt (24) socked the game tying home run. Sorensen is not much of a prospect so I am not sure what the problem was. After he departed, the offense woke up scoring 4 times in the final 2 innings. 2011 WI Co-MVP Mike Walker (23) smacked a 2-on 2-out shot in the ninth. Shawn Zarraga (23) was on twice and is off to a hot start at the plate batting .455. Zarraga is listed at 6'0" 260 lbs on his MiLB.com page.

Top 3B prospect Nick Castellanos homered off Medlen in the 9th. He should be joining Prince and Miggy in Detroit within a few years. At 20, he has got to be one of the youngest players in A+.

Game Log

Medlen's inning extended by a Nick Shaw error.

Lakeland Bottom of the 9th

Pitcher Change: Casey Medlen replaces Alan Williams.

Nick Castellanos homers (1) on a fly ball to right field.

Tyler Collins doubles (3) on a line drive to right fielder Franklin Romero Jr.

Avisail Garcia strikes out swinging.

James Robbins strikes out swinging.

James McCann singles on a ground ball to shortstop Nick Shaw. Tyler Collins scores. Throwing error by shortstop Nick Shaw.

Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Luis Castillo replaces James McCann.

Sounds Lose Series Opener In Oklahoma City

04/09/2012 10:52 PM ET

Nashville Sounds

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Nashville Sounds came up on the short end of a 4-2 defeat to the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Monday evening at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in the opener of a four-game series.

Nashville (1-4) has been held to two runs or less in each of its contests this season.

The Sounds grabbed an early 1-0 lead, plating a run in the top of the first inning with a two-out rally against Oklahoma City starter Henry Sosa. After the first two batters were retired, Caleb Gindl continued his early hot hitting by legging out a triple to center then scored the night's first run when Sean Halton followed with an RBI single to left.

Right-hander Seth McClung got off to a solid start for Nashville. The 6-foot-8 hurler retired 12 of the first 13 RedHawks batters and did not allow a hit under the fifth inning, when Oklahoma City rallied to take the lead with a four-run frame.

The RedHawks, who sent nine batters to the plate in the frame, put together three consecutive singles to start the home half of the fifth, the third of which by Jimmy Paredes plated Brett Wallace to even the score at 1-1. McClung followed with a walk to Landon Powell and the final pitch of the at-bat eluded catcher Martin Maldonado for a wild pitch that allowed Brad Snyder to race home to give Oklahoma City a 2-1 advantage.

Jim Henderson took over on the Nashville hill and hit the first batter he faced before fanning consecutive batters for the first two outs of the frame. He wasn't able to escape the bases-loaded jam, however, as left fielder Fernando Martinez laced the first pitch he saw from the right-hander to center for a two-run single that extended the Oklahoma City lead to 4-1.

McClung (0-1) took the loss for Nashville in his season debut after being charged with four runs on three hits in his four-plus innings of work. He walked two batters and struck out one.

The Sounds got a run back in the top of the sixth with another two-run rally. Shortstop Edwin Maysonet ripped a two-out double to center off RedHawks reliever Adalberto Flores and scored on a triple off the bat of Corey Patterson, who went 2-for-4 in the contest after opening the season with 11 hitless at-bats.

Nashville would get no closer, though, as Enerio Del Rosario and Juan Abreu closed out the contest with 2 2/3 scoreless frames. Abreu worked around a two-out Hanley Statia single in the ninth to nail down his second save of the year.

Sergio Perez (1-0) earned the victory after working one scoreless inning of relief for Oklahoma City.

The teams continue the series with another 7:05 p.m. match up on Tuesday night. Brewers top prospect Wily Peralta (0-0, 1.50) will make his second start of the year for the Sounds. The right-hander will be opposed by Oklahoma City right-hander Paul Clemens (0-1, 3.00).

Box Score

No visuals of Seth McClung giving Zach Braddock (24) a piggyback ride tonight. ;) McClung's up and down evening is recapped well above. Jim Henderson relieved McClung. Henderson has been very solid for the Brewers the past few years. He could make the Reds bullpen now, no? Victor Garate pitched 2 innings after Henderson's 2. Together, Henderson and Garate combined for 4 IP 2 H 0 R 0 BB 9 K.

Caleb Gindl tripled and Eric Farris was on twice with walks. Slow starter Logan Schafer had a hit. So did Sean Halton. Taylor Green went 0-4. Hainley Statia and Corey Patterson each had 2 hits.

This OKC Astros lineup is full of fringy big leaguers and former top prospects. Brett Wallace hit 5th and started at 3B. He netted the Cardinals Matt Holliday in 2009. Former bonus baby Fernando Martinez hit 3rd.

Game Log

Henderson couldn't quite cleanup McClung's mess.
