This is just down the street from my workplace; I'm hoping to check it out.

I saw him speak at Hillel the last time (?) he spoke on the UW campus. Totally reversed my perception of him, he's really genuinely a huge baseball fan living out his dream job. He fielded a Q&A session after his remarks, and was so gracious & accommodating.

A bit of a delayed response: I did get over to the lecture on Tuesday and enjoyed it, as did the rest of the nearly-full house. I've long described myself as ambivalent on Bud; I know there wouldn't be baseball in Milwaukee without him, and I'm grateful for that, but some of his moves and responses just seem boneheaded. My take on him still falls somewhere in between - but wow, there is no questioning his devotion to the game of baseball. None.

 

Wisconsin Eye recorded the talk. Their website suggests it will be aired (in Wisconsin - Charter channel 995, TWC channel 363) Thursday Friday 4/13 from 3:15-5:00 PM. It also looks like this page has a link to an online version: http://www.wiseye.org/Programming/VideoArchive/EventDetail.aspx?evhdid=5967 It's worth a look or a listen (that page has both an audio and a video link) if you have about an hour and 45 minutes to spare -- or about 35 minutes if you're not interested in the Q and A section. This is exactly what I would say about him. You couldn't ask for a person to be more in love with the game of baseball than he is.
