BA calling NCAA Hoops Tournament games this weekend

pebadger

I'm sure some of you are already aware of this, but for those that aren't the Brewers own Brian Anderson will be doing the play-by-play on the games from Portland this Thursday and Saturday on TBS.

He's done some work on Big Ten Network hoops games the past couple of seasons. I like BA, but I was surprised to see him get called up to the big leagues in hoops this quickly. Hope he has some good calls - he should certainly have some good games out there. In any event it will just be a reminder that very soon I'll be back in the routine of Brewers every night.

I'm more worried about BA leaving Brewers TV to do national level baseball (TBS, Fox, ESPN, or MLB Network) than I am about college basketball - which has virtually no overlap with his Brewers duties. Knowing this makes me more likely to check out the Portland venue when local teams aren't playing.

the afternoon games he is calling should be interesting; louisville vs davidson and new mexico vs long beach state. too bad i will be at work as i took thursday off to watch marquette and couldn't justify to the boss to take 2 days off to watch college basketball.

Right, but it's more national exposure on-air, more contacts & relationships developed off-air. He's obviously very well-regarded at TBS, & seemingly around the 'industry' as a whole. I don't think he'd be leaving anytime soon, but it seems clear to me that he's going to have another opportunity before long.

BA is a great announcer. Does that mean we get Craig Coshun for Saturday's televised spring training game vs the Angels? Ugh. I like Coshun as a pre-game and sideline reporter but not so much as a play by play guy.

No, we get the Angels announcers. FS West is producing and airing the game, FS Wisconsin is just simulcasting it.

Maybe if Uecker can make a national career out of broadcasting in Milwaukee, so can BA. Of course he doesn't have the ties to the city that Ueck had, but he's certainly building them. None of the national gigs are really full time so the risk would be losing him to another larger baseball market.

If hope he stays as long as possible...I really think he's one of the best.
