autographs, signings, and tips, part 1

you should get jenkins, you can drop a ball to Braun, but lately his really hot girlfreind has been with him so he hasn't been parking in the upper lot, I always get there at 10 or 11 because I like to get yost, I would get there no later than 1 if I were you.

Glavine is a really good signer.

BrewCrewin2004--are you going tomorrow? I have decided that I am going to go, can't stay for the game because I have to work, but hopefully I can get some autographs. I will have my Kansas City Royals hat on, please say hello, I'd like to meet you.

Now, here is the Glavine story:

My buddy and I were watching for the Mets coming out of taxis and we saw Guillermo Mota, Orlando Hernandez, etc... Then came Tom Glavine by himself, I said "Hey Tom!" He waved, and I asked him if he could sign my ball, he held up his hand so I dropped it down to him, then I dropped the pen. I didn't have any money that day, so the only ball I had was a game used MLB one. Then my freind tossed his down, and overthrew him badly, he had to make an over the shoulder leaning catch to grab it. Anyway, he sweetspoted my freind's and didn't mine, which was ok, I just got it and was happy with it, just thought it was strange how I made a perfect toss, and my buddy almost threw it away. Then we told him good luck in Chicago, and he nodded, pure class act!

BTW- the one who overthrew him and got it sweetspoted, is "Hart of Milwaukee"

Has anyone ever tried getting the visiting team at their hotel? I'd really like to get Griffey, but its pretty impossible at the stadium. Not sure how much I want to hang out around a hotel waiting either.

A friend of mine got David Wright and Tom Glavine at their hotel when the Mets were here recently. Billy Wagner was signing stuff, too. Depending if you find the hotel you might have a shot. Late morning is the best time to do it, at least that is what my friend tells me.

from what I've heard Griffey is a jerk and doesn't sign at all, it is best to stay out of his way. You can try, but I doubt you will be able to get him, he is alergic to ink.

I think it just depeneds on what mood you catch him in. Griffey gave my friends a signed bat of his last year during a game last season.

How many things of Yost do you have signed?

i skipped auto friday this time around. after the prince ordeal i am wary of wasting my time trying to get autos.

i am curious though as to how it was set up and how it all went. ryan unlike prince prolly came out on time and didn`t leave early which helps to keep the line moving and to get to as many people as possible.

Braun came out a couple minutes late but he also stayed a couple minutes late so he was there for about 20 min. The line was much more organized and there were ushers in the seats preventing anyone from jumping in line there. Also, they had railing setup on the concourse. I give Miller Park staff credit on the line control as they seemed to get it right here. However, they still need work on the gates. Some gates open up before others thus some of the gates have no shot at getting any of the big names on Fridays. Of course, the Ed Sedar line was available for allhttp://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/tongue.gif

Brian how bad was Braun's line? I got Hart at Jeff's today, Hart was very shy.

I, too, got Hart's autograph at Jeff's today and I will admit that he is very shy. I asked him if he would ever consider using 'Sunglasses at Night' as his intro music and he said unless he was doing really bad, he wouldn't although he admitted that he has used it before which was very interesting. I also told him I hoped Yost would use him as the leadoff hitter again and he said 'Yeah, I don't know what's going on with that.' I thought that was very interesting. He signed my Brewer's shoe. Here is a picture of it:

Looks nice with Yovanni's autograph next to it? I am going to get Hart's autograph at Sendiks now on September 1. And hopefully I can get more autographs on my shoe http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif

ok, Braun's line isn't as organized as you think, I thought that the best way to get Braun's autograph was to first eat at Friday's, then hop in line there. So my Dad and I got to Friday's at about 3:15-3:20 and ate dinner at an outside table. We then went outside in between friday's and the fan zone to wait in line to run. Now, the only way that you are allowed to be in the stadium in that line is if you ate at Friday's, for any of you that go through the hot corner gate. The guy says that you can only go in if you eat at Friday's and you have to stay there until 5:30. At about 4:30 we got in line, and we were behind a family of 6, about 20 minutes later, that line was almost back to where the fan zone store doors were, and I KNOW that 90% of those people did not buy a soda at Friday's. Even later than that 3-4 groups of people periodiclly tried to cut line, and ome people held disgression to that and told them to get at the end. I told one guy, and I can't stand this kid. He is about 12 years old, but he comes with his Dad, his speech is a little slured and I think he gets autographs for his Dad. Anyway, at about 5:25, they came to the front of the line, I kindly said "Excuse me guys, but the end of the line is back there." They shrugged their shoulders, and said what line, I said all those people, and they said, line for what, I replied to get in, and then they said, and the kid in that snotty way, "There is no line." Unbelievable, 90% of the people in that line weren't supposed to be in there beacause they didn't eat at FRiday's, and a lot of people cut. I don't know what happened behind home, but I would guess that anyone that wasn't in the line by Friday's didn't get Braun, I was about 15th in line, my Dad was 29th or 30th, so he came down by me. He doesn't run as fast as I do, (but I'm slow)

As far as the "Braun line" it was well organized, but the line by Friday's was a mess.

If they are going to have a rule that you can't go in unless you eat at Friday's, then they need to enforce it!, there is no way that the 150+ people in that line all ate at Fridays, like I said, we were behind a family who ate there, and then we saw some other familes that we saw in there, but a whole lot of them lied to the usher to get through the turnstile, and then the ushers didn't do a damn thing about it, I remember on Autograph friday's in 2003-2004 when I could easily get two good players. After this year, I'm not sure I will do autograph friday's every friday, it is getting out of hand, and I'm not sure the Brewers will keep doing them either, I would stop if I were them, it is getting ridiculous.

That "line" behind Fridays is another example of the ushers not doing their job. If you haven't been back there let me describe it to you.

Imagine a line of people waiting to get in to the stadium next to Fridays, people who are all waiting legitimately.

Now imagine that shortly before the gates open about 200+ more people just form a mob around and next to the line.

Now imagine, as it gets closer to 5:30, people start pushing and "finessing" their way closer to the front of this mob of people (that in NO way resembles a line at all).

Now imagine an usher that says nothing to these soon to be skippers. He pretends that everyone will enter the park in an orderly fashion but when 5:30 rolls around people all start running. The people at the front of the mob simply move metal barricades out of their way, because after all rules are for suckers.

And Brain, I know exactly what kid your talking about. I know it's not right to hate kids, but this greasy, dirty, little snot is a prime example of whats wrong with "autograph fridays". He and those that come with them are terrible. If we're talking about the same kid I'm pretty sure his dad (or who ever that guys is) has been "blacklisted" so to speak by a few players. I heard Matt Wise just go off on him (the dad) one day.

I missed Fridays game, so I can't speak for how well or poorly handled the autograph sessions were handled, but I can tell you how please I was with Tuesdays event. I fully expected the worse, but came away with 8 signatures in about 30 minutes. Almost everything seemed to run smoothly, I even saw an usher pulling people out of line who "skipped". What an idea.

ya, I've seen that kid all the time, and he is really annoying, and I may sound like a jerk, but if you know who he is, you would understand. The worst thing is, is that half the people in the line didn't belong there, they never ate at friday's, they went in the gate after the usher said they had to eat in the restaurant, and they went straight to the line? Why would they say that, and then nort do anything. I felt really bad because about a 10 year old Reds fan came down to the line and asked if that was the end of it, pointing to the foul pole. And the kid that cut said, ya, you'll never get him, you should have gotten here early like the rest of us, just go back to cincinatti, two things that I wanted to do, punch the Brewers kid in the face, and let the Reds kid in, but I thought that might not go over to well. The worst thing is that the Brewers kid should have never gotten Braun, and he is trash talking to the reds fan, that guy and his dad, don't belong in Miller park, it is a shame.
