autographs, signings, and tips, part 1

jason21nl

i know there has been a lot of talk in the brewers collections thread that really isn't related to their collection at all...

thought i would start a thread where people can go for tips, or when they hear of an autograph signing they can post it in here....not sure if it will work, but its a thought.

on a side note, the brewers are on tv..and they showed Hall signing autographs and taking pictures with people at ST.

Molitor will be signing in Cooperstown during induction weekend for $59 for balls and flats.

Some of us with east coast biases can find signings at the Philly Show in Reading, PA; the shows sponsored by JP Sports in Westchester County, NY and at Hofstra on Long Island; and (primarily) in Secaucas, NJ from MAB Celebrity Services.

I have never attended a show in Chantilly, VA, but they often have a large number of autograph guests at their various shows.

i don't know how many people know this little tip...so i thought i would share it...How many people have got an autograph on a glossy 8x10 where the actual autograph looked either...bad, the sharpie was drying out, signed in the wrong spot or anything else...well, I have a way to start all over..I'll explain first, then show pics..first, buy yourself a dry erase marker...second, circle over the autograph lightly, trying not to harm the 8x10..then take a light cloth or kleenex and remove the black...then there you go, a brand new 8x10 to try to get re signed how you want it....ok now for pics...

I used a beat up picture of matt wise...signed it Jason with a black sharpie

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j290/jason21nl/DSC_0055.jpg

then took the dry erase marker and drew circiles around my name

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j290/jason21nl/DSC_0056.jpg

then used a kleenex to wipe it off...a brand new 8x10 appearshttp://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j290/jason21nl/DSC_0057.jpg

hope this helps anyone that has a bad autograph on a 8x10

Thats cool for 8x10's, but does anybody know the best way to remove pen signatures from balls without wrecking the ball? I'm just interested, because i just started collecting autographs of top prospects at beloit, and I know undoubtly some of them will join the Mark Newfield- J.M Gold club.

One of my favorite autograph signings was getting Jeff Cirillo at the Menomonee Falls I can't remember if it was Gordie or Ernie car dealership back in like the summer of 1998. He was very nice and signed anything for free. Got a card and ball. Although sadly the ball sig has faded quite a bit.

MarkLoretta, there is a company that advertises in SCD with a website www.signedbaseballmagic.com that says it can remove unwanted autographs from baseballs.

The fee starts at $150, so it's only going to be used for stuff like the "dual signed Babe Ruth/Greg Vaughn" ball.

Autograph dealer Richard Simon is among a group of dealers and collectors who have some ethical issues with this service, and his website has some UV light photos of what one of these treated balls look like after a signature has been removed.

  • 2 weeks later...

just got back from Jeff's and I have the following info:

The Bill Hall signing will be from 11:00-1:00 at Jeff's in Menomonee Falls on May 5th.

Ben Sheets he said and guaranteed will be at Jeff's after Hall, Jeff and Sheet's agent have agreed to terms on a contract that has Jeff's as the supplier of Sheets' game used memorabilia. In other words, Jeff's basiclly owns Sheets memorabilia and will have a lot of game used items, and he did say that Sheets would be in for a signing.

He also said that Scott Boras really liked the turnout for the Fielder signing last September and Jeff will most likely have him again as well, it is just unsure at this point when that will be, but both sides definintly want to have another show.

I asked about Rickie Weeks and he said that he has tried a few times and would like to get Weeks in as Weeks is one of his favorite players, he said that he wants to do it this summer, but that is all that he knows about that at this point.

The only prices that he could clarify is that Hall's balls and flats will probably be $20-$25...

Remember, you heard it from billyhallfan first on brewerfan.nethttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

He should be making an announcement during his segment on Homer's show today at 4:15pm

Hopefully this helps everyone...

I dunno, I get all my Brewers stuff signed at free signings. Billy Hall signed for free last year a few times, and I got him 4 times in an hour at the Fan Zone. I got Prince there twice for free too.

Keep a lookout at the Brewers Dugout (Brookfield Square) and the Fanzone for those places are free signings. I don't necisarilly want to pay for someone's autograph unless it's a HOFer. 25 bucks for each of these guys can get you someone like Bob Gibson if he were to come to town (that's what I payed for him at Cooperstown). The only guy I might do it for would be Sheets, then I know I'd get it on the sweet spot. Is he pretty good about signing the sweet spot if you request it? I was in line for him once for a team ball, and saw him sign a ball, then realized the guy was wearing his jersey, and signed his jersey for him too without the guy asking, I thought that was pretty cool.

BHF thanks for the info on the Hall signing. I will be attending that. $20 for Hall aint bad, don't know when I will be able to get him for free so whatever. $59 for Molitor, might do that would be very cool to get to meet him. Also in case anyone didn't know Corey Hart signing at the FanZone April 21st 12pm to 1pm.

BHF, will Jeffs have a few different Hall 8x10's for sale to get signed?

Jeff's will usaully have a few things to get signed. For the Prince Fielder signing you could have bought 8x10's, 16x20's, balls, and bats. I am sure he will have the same for Bill Hall. Just each thing costs different.
