Ryan Braun Day Random Playlist.

EdgarDiazRocks

Celebrate the day . . . hit shuffle !

over 11K choices from my list . . .

1) Bettye LaVette - Little Sparrow

Dolly Parton is one hell of a song writer. One of my top 10 covers.

2) Salt - Beauty

I like me some swedish rock.

3) Gene Krupa - Perdidio

Ella Fitzgerald is scatting over the top of this one. Oddly breaks into "Stormy Weather" right in the middle.

4) Roy Rogers - Ride 'em Cowboy

Really more a Sons of the Pioneers song, but it was on the Rogers Box set so iTunes give him the credit.

5)Eels - Grace Kelly Blues (Live)

How did LA produce this guy?

6) Frank Sinatra - Just One of Those Things

A stripped down Jazz Combo version from the Sinatra in Hollywood box set. A fine purchase.

7) Pavement - Flame Throwa

S-K's Janet Weiss is now playing with Stephen Malkmus' band on the road.

8 ) Patti Smith - Because the Night

That VH-1 didn't censor Patti Smith doing Rock and Roll N***** at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame gives me hope for TV.

9) Tom Browne - Thigh High (Grip Your Hips & Move)

The Mariners have a new thing. When a home player hits a home run, they splash "FUNK BOMB" across the scoreboard and play Parliament's "Give up the Funk " I shouldn't complain, but how about a little funk variety? at least "Make My Funk the P-Funk" or "Get Up for the Down Stroke"?

My luck, I'll get "Play that Funky Music"

10) Stereolab - Jenny Ondioline

you remember when People were saying that Sterolab was going to revolutionize everything? What happened to that?

Damn this is a good song. I need to buy some new stuff of theirs.

Quote:
I'm digging your selection, Skjelly, though I haven't heard of Uncle Dave Macon. I'll have to look into it.

Uncle Dave Macon was a banjo player early in the 20th century. I only have two of his songs, both (and the Dock Boggs song that showed up) came from the Anthology of American Folk Music. "Way Down the Old Plank Road" is an upbeat bluegrass tune that I've heard covered by at least a couple modern day bluegrass bands.

Out of 11,579 on the iPod-

1- "Aim to Please"- 7 Seconds

I was just gonna swallow a handful of quaaludes but I felt guilty after this came on and didn't.

2- "Smells Like Teen Spirit"- Nirvana

bloody night owl...bloody night owl...bloody night owl

3- "Time For Change"- Motley Crue

I remember the first house party I ever went to in college they were playing this CD over and over again. I was drinking beer and peach schnapps. And then I puked on myself.

4. "Here Comes a Regular"- The Replacements

I used to live at home, now I stay at the house...

Pardon me while I break down and weep. If "Skyway" comes on next I might have to end it all...

5. "Invasion"- Vinnie Vincent Invasion

Killer album. It rocks surprisingly hard for '80s hair metal.

6. "City Boy"- Blitzspeer

I love this because it's live and at the beginning the guy who introduces the band says "YO YO NEW YORK CITY! HERE WE GO! COLD CRUSHIN' ALWAYS BUM RUSHIN'. THE ALMIGHTY BLITZSPEER!"

7. "I Can Still Make Cheyenne" (live)- George Strait

Awesome song. One of my favorites from the "King of Country."

8. "Time Bomb"- Rancid

This reminds me of a girl I was in love with back in '96. She's got six kids now.

9. "There's No Way"- 88 Fingers Louie

Named after the guy that sold Fred Flintstone a stolen piano.

10. "Scarlet Ribbons"- Willie Nelson

Another sad one.
