About 4 summers ago I lived on 29th and National. Not necissarily the best neighborhood, but my roommates had all lived there for years and never had any problems. For the year I lived there it seemed pretty much like a family neighborhood without any problems.

 

About 3 weeks before our lease was up, I went to bed, and woke up in the morning not knowing where my shorts (with my wallet) were at all. My dad had given me a blank check to get books, and I found that on the kitchen table. Then my roomate noticed the screen was messed up. I went outside and sure enough, there was a chair sitting by the window.

 

Someone was not only in my house while we were all sleeping, but someone was IN. MY. ROOM. while I was sleeping. Then they took the time to go through my wallet and leave the check behind for some reason (I wish they woulda left my license too). I only had an ATM card at the time, which they tried using 10 times before the card declined after they couldn't figure out my pin number, but that freaked me out pretty good.

 

I basically stayed at my parents house until my lease was up, and the only two times I did stay at that house I slept with a baseball bat next to me. (Not that it woulda done much good cuz when whoever broke in, I didn't wake up in the first place)
