job offer dielema

i also thought downtime would be nice, I have a lot at my job. It was nice for the first few months but now I'm just running out of ideas to fill the time and now I wish I just had harder things to do and ways to challenge myself. I guess I define "freedom" as the option of choice at a job, and boredom is more like something thrust on you and not a condition somebody would choose to be in.

maybe you have your opinion already made and just haven't reached the point you're ready to vocalize a final decision. At the least, read through your comments on this thread. Have you described your current job and coworkers positively or negatively? the new job? if you've described one vs. the other in a much more positive light then maybe that's the way you really want to head.

Jwill, I'd ask your current company if they can do any better, but other than that, unless the stress level at the new place would be much, much higher, I don't even see a comparison. I'd ask and be give notice right away if they said no.

Like a friend of mine once told me: Always go for the money. You'll never "enjoy" your job, especially in corporate America. The money allows you to do things in your life. Work isn't your life and it's not meant to make you happy. Work should give you money and as much of it as possible. The more efficiently you can make money the better for your real life. Work isn't your life and if it is you're missing out on what's important.

If you have an opportunity to make significantly more money you take it. Because even sooner you'll have another opportunity to make significantly more money. You might think you "like" your job, but what you're really saying is you don't hate your job and are scared you'll hate your new one. Probably not. Work sucks. Money is fun. More money makes work more bearable.

As the saying goes: Take the money and run.
