Cubs fans hating Braun, entertaining

Quote:
It may be message board smack, but they were discussing Braun's level of play and how they admired it yet were frustrated by it. Hating was their term and so it was appropriate for the thread title.

I just took a look over there and they seem to be a lot cooler about it than we are.

Can you imagine if they started a thread over there every time someone started a thread here complaining abotu Zambrano and Ramirez's antics?

I'm all for jawing with my Cub fan friends about this stuff over a few beers but come on

Don't be mad at the brewers for knowing how to scout and develop position players. Some organizations actually are into that sort of thing.
You know he was being sarcastic here, right? He's one of the best guys on that board.
I wasn't trying to discredit anybody. He's right. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Hello to the Cubs fans. I have to give credit to all the posters who admitted they hate Braun because he is good and not on their team. At least they are honest.

EDIT: For the record I am just to lazy to figure out and make a sig pic.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

If you can't relax and have a laugh then I don't know what to say. It's in good fun and it makes for good message board fodder when most people are not registered to post in both boards yet can read it. It's the closest rival in a pennant race and things are heating up. They were commenting on Braun's slight pose on his homerun tonight and some were overlooking Aram's trophy pose on a double. That's game action from tonight and so I put it in MLB instead of OT. Reasonable people can disagree on where they might place the thread however, if a mod sees fit to move this, then so be it.

Of course it would be nice if the Cubs hadn't gone on their tear andwe had a nice 9-10 game lead, but one benefit for me at least, being in a tight pennant race makes the games even more tense and makes checking in on Cubs games more important.

Obviously us making the playoffs is my main hope from this season and actually getting to watch the Brewers in playoff games would be a rush given i hadn't seen once since i was a kid watching the 82 Brewers. We do likely get to watch around 70 games of important baseball the rest of the season,i'm really going to enjoy the ride of daily games that finally matter this late in the season. The caveat of scoreboard and game watching of the Cubs is an added bonus for me.

Not trying to preach here, but all Brewer fans should be sure not to forget to enjoy what's going on by playing games that matter alot after so many years where they didn't by now.Don't let a loss and/or Cubs win get you ultra upset, remember be happy that we finally have a reason to get all bothered by a loss on late July instead of wondering what quality veteran we can trade away to a contender.

I read some of their posts over there every once in a while. For the most part, they are good people over there, a few of em seem to look down on the brewers because of our past(98navigator, *cough*) although a cubs fan looking down on anybody due to a losing history is rather hilarious IMO. All in all tho, about 99% of em are good people who are just rooting for thier own team. Nothin wrong with that at all. Although i do agree with the monster sig pics when most of them only avg one sentence per post. That's just kinda silly.

That picture is from Scrubs.

That's Zach Braff and Many Moore. They both love Harry Potter so much they wish they were wizards.

I'm glad we don't allow picture sigs. It makes their board look reall cluttered IMHO. That's all I have to say about that...

To be honest, I didn't like Braun's demeanor at first because I thought his cockiness wouldn't play well in the clubhouse. But now I see him laughing with the other guys and discussing hitting and stuff -- and I figure he's just fine. I think it's just the outward appearance, but from everything I've heard he's a good guy.

And if he keeps up a 1.000+ OPS, he's a friggin god.

Side note, that episode of Scrubs is hilarious.

Anyway, about Braun being cocky, they're right. There's an article from earlier this week about Braun being surprised by his success, and he says, "clearly I'm extremely confident in my abilities..."

Of course, that doesn't make me like him any less.

Oh well, add fuel to the rivalry. On our side we have Braun, on their side they have Ramirez, Soriano and Zambrano.

I guess I'm fine with it. It's OK that he knows he's good.... It also means that when he goes in a slump he probably won't start to doubt himself, ala Cirillo.

As long as he doesn't start showing up other players, it doesn't bother me a bit.

Whenever I venture over to dark side baseball dot com, I realize how great our mods are over here. Props to them for keeping this site beautiful in both looks (those pic sigs are way, way to big) and in content.

Braun is a little cocky. Hopefully someone's talking to him about toning it down. But talk about the pot calling the kettle black...

The poster previously known as Robin19, now @RFCoder

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.

But if you give them money, you can make them go away. What a deal! Not to mention being able to ignore people who don't agree with you. I'm shocked Brian hasn't implemented this policy yet.

I guess that wouldn't work here, we only have 8 posters. Too bad.

I find home run admiring very cocky. Braun doesn't seem to really do that beyond once. He normally flips the bat (Sometimes with a slight cocky flair) and puts his head down and runs.

And Firefox with Adblock is a god send when going to nsbb.com, I've add blocked just about every sig. It made it almost impossible to read before.

I see Braun as being more confident than cocky, he runs the bases on homeruns at a good pace.

and being someone who also frequents a car message board, signature pics on that site along with avatars usually move to borderline porn and make work viewing challenging. I like the clean appearance of bf.net

there is a difference about Braun and other player's cockiness to like Soriano and Ramirez, I haven't yet seen Braun showboat a homerun or throw his bat up like he just hit the home run to with the world series, Braun may be cocky, but he doesn't "rub it in." Braun has also not had any pitchers call him out, like Peavy did to Soriano, in my opinion, being confident in your talents and abilities, and then going out on the field and mashing, is different then being overpaid, over confident, crush the ball, and showboat.

that is just my two cents.

But yeah, I have nothing against the Brewers or their fans. Anyone who can stay a loyal fan of a team that's been so pathetic the past 20 years is okay in my book. Hell I root for four pro sports teams that never win championships... it'd be like hating myself.

that is too funny, when you come down to it, both of our teams have sucked forever.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

I think Braun is just super confident at how good he is, and that rubs some people as "cocky". And I personally love that about him. He has come up to the big league level and produced right way. Not a lot of players can say that. Cub fans are hypocrites if they say Braun is cocky and Soriano and Ramirez are not.

what has the chicago teams have done since mj has left the town. The bears have one superbowl loss, cubs have a nlcs loss, bulls have been pathetic for the most part, and don't follow hockey enough but know the hawks have been bad. That fan is talking like he lives in Boston or something.
