Explosion in Wauwatosa.

Man, I hope that injuries are at a minimum. Hope it was not some Meth Lab that went up. That could be catastrophic. This is pretty close to our house.

From 620 WTMJ's site:

Breaking news at this hour, an explosion at a house in Wauwatosa at 109th and West Wisconsin, near Highway 100 and Bluemound.

Initial eyewitness reports and scanner traffic indicate one house was destroyed, another is on fire and up to 8 additional homes suffered damage. Numerous fire departments have been called to the scene - there is no immediate word on injuries.

Smoke can be seen rising from the area. Initial reports indicate there are several injuries, although we don't know how serious those are. We also don't know at this time whether all residents are accounted for.

It just aired on the news. Right now they are speculating a gas explosion. I saw the video taken and the place where the explosion occurred is totally flattened. Completely annihilated and the houses on either side took major damage.

I got a call this morning from my girlfriend saying that she was driving near my parents house and heard a big explosion and then saw a ton of flying debris. I called my parents right away and my mom was pretty shook up by how loud it was and how bad the house shook...luckily, I don't think they had any damage. They live right on 109th and Wells so they are right in the immediate vicinity of the explosion. I just moved out to Colorado this week so I am pretty much out of the loop. If anyone could post more info when it becomes available I would greatly appreciate it. What a terrible accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected.

I guess the woman who lived in the house was killed. My condolences go out to her family. My thoughts and prayers as well are with the people in the neighborhood who sounded very shaken up and are a little scared probably.
