Michelle Wie Nearly Kicked Off LPGA Tour?

Her dad totally ruined her. A perfect example of an over zealous father pushing their child too far too fast.

She has obvious talent and is good. But she never got to develop, her game or her metal state, the right way. So shes at the same level she was 3 years ago and that's very average for her age now. She developed physically quicker than her peers, but they've caught up. Especially since she hasn't been allowed to cultivate her game the right way.

She hasn't done anything significant and now there are girls her age that are better.

Shes a freak show at this point and I fully expect her to be washed up in a couple years. It's a sad story and it's really not her fault. Her parents are idiots and have terrible priorities.

Michelle Wie is a fantastic golfer, but I've seen kids in Arizona who are as good, only 3-6 years younger. I go to my parents' club out here, and there's two sisters--must be around 13-15--who easily outhit most boys their age.

There's one out here I've played with who is 17. I'm a scratch golfer and have played with her half a dozen times. I've never beaten her, and that's with her playing the championship tees. She played in the local LPGA event last month, made the cut, and easily was hitting it farther than the 25-40 year olds on tour. She's graduating high school a year early, gonna graduate from college in 3 years, then look out LPGA.

And then there's also a girl out here who is 18 and went to the school I did my student teaching at. She just opted to forego college and turn pro. She was the #1 women's golf recruit in the country, but passed it up.

Wie can be very good, and has plenty of time. But her moment as the young hotshot has passed, as the LPGA is beginning to market young stars (and cuties) like Morgan Pressel, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbus, and the other teens about to make a splash in golf in the next 3-5 years.

Splitting hairs here, but Natalie Gulbis has been a pro for six years and has just as many LPGA wins as Michelle Wie: zero.

With that said however, I approve of her calendar. Her TV show on the Golf Channel on the other hand is awful.

They ruined her golf game. And this is what is really important to her.

Take the money and run, fine. But with a successful golf career she would have a lot more than that. Those endorsements would be a spit in the bucket.

They were smart to maybe take advantage of endorsements right away in case she never panned out. But they made a short term decision then.

It's not always about the money, either. They ruined her game and her ability to maybe be happy. They ruined her earning potential as well.

Well actually....$20 million is more like $10 million after taxes and losses of all other deductions. It's still a lot of money....but she only sees half ever, not including agents fees, etc.
