They are said to like Alonso's line drive bat for Petco. Rizzo would play better in a Wrigley type atmosphere. SD might get 2-3 more solid prospects for Rizzo and have reloaded perfectly.

Yep, even though they never really had much chance anyway. The media has done all they can to make us think they do, but they can't offer the length of deal Boras wants. They were never really true contenders. A guy like Rizzo makes a lot more sense for them financially.
