Waun-a-Play?

splitterpfj

I live in Waunakee, a nice town near Madison, where it seems everyone has a list of "Waunas." We have the Waun-a-Bowl, the Waun-a-Wash and Waun-a-Taco.

Hawing and I have discussed this, it seems there may be no end to the possibilities. One suggestion for a new business might be the "Waun-a-Bet" casino.

If you were to start a a business here, what would it be called?

You live in "The Only Waunakee in the World"?

That always cracks me up when I hear that, as I'm guessing there are lots of cities that don't share a name with another.

For my business, it could be a nightclub, called "Wauna-Dance?"

You could have a key making shop called "Wauna-Key".

Wow, that's funny. About 2 years ago I was sitting in Ripp's or The Gold Nugget and 3 guys from outta state were having the same conversation. It got pretty raunchy- waun-a-lube job, waun-a-screw for a hardware store, the bartender says it's a weekly occurrence.

Ahh, Waunakee, now home to my mother and soon home to my sister and her family (they finally sold their house, splitter. Same one I was telling you about in February).

I'm mildly disappointed that the Waunakee Public Library calls itself by such a standard name, when Wauna-Read or Wauna-Book could have been used.

If I lived there and wanted to start a book club, I'd call it Wauna-Read.

Oh, it's still the Waun-a-house, at least until the Middleton house is sold on the 28th. Three more weeks of having to distinguish between one and the other.

I think I saw a banner outside a bank earlier this year that read "Waun-a-Loan?" That wasn't the name of the bank, however.

I grew up in Waunakee and worked at the Waun-A-Bowl in high school. If I had a nickel for everytime someone walked up and said, "Hey we waun-a-bowl", then laugh like they were the first person to think of that, I'd be rich.
