Build Your 2012 Brewer Bench in December 2011

I just disagree on Green. I think he needs to be on the big league team. He played plenty at AAA last year and proved himself and I believe he's already 26. I'd rather see if he can be a good bench player on a contender than see if he can repeat his 2011 statistics at AAA again. But his age is the clincher for me that he should be in the majors (I'm well aware he's missed time due to injury).

What about seeing if the Rays would trade Reid Brignac to take the Utility Infield slot? The Rays wouldn't give him away, but he also shouldn't cost a ton. I know I read earlier in the offseason that the Rays wouldn't be against trading him. I love the Izturis pickup and I wouldn't be anything less than happy to go into the year with Izturis and Gonzalez as the Brewers SS's, however, Ideally I would love to see the Brewers get a younger guy who can compete with Gonzalez for playing time and hopefully play well enough to keep Gonzalez under the 550 (?) AB's that make his option vest.

Gonzalez is great but I'd love to see the Brewer's keep as much payroll flexibility as possible for next season.

I agree. Ramirez is better off resting occasionally. Green should be competing with Gamel too at 1B too. He actually had the better year at AAA and he's not completely foreign to the position.

The problem with that is what happens if Ramirez, Weeks or Gamel go down with an injury? Who would fill the void on the bench when Green goes into the starting lineup? At least if you sign a veteran like DeRosa, Cantu, Kouzmanoff or Nady to fill that last bench spot you have security in AAA with Green.

DeRosa would be ideal. He was a Brewer killer with the Cubs! I would prefer him in left over Jorge Cantu if he's needed there for the possible Braun suspension. Also, I think Morgan will be on the way out if they sign Aoki when Braun comes back, which keeps Green on the team.

Age really shouldn't be a factor, Hate Those Rodents. Plus, he's going to be 25 for the entire 2012 season. It's not as if he's 26 going on 27, as I assumed based on your post until I looked it up. I really value Green and--at this point--would like to see him remain in AAA (and under team control for 6 more seasons rather than 5 more seasons).

According to his comments on twitter, it seems like Hall enjoyed Milwaukee and Boston and would be open to a return to either team. Not that it'll happen, but it's possible. He is in great shape, and has said he has teams interested in him. He'll definitely land somewhere. He's too versatile not to.
I guess that Bill Hall wrote on his twitter account that he has signed a deal with the Yankees. No confirmation from the organization yet. Sniff. http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/frown.gif

Translation: I'm unemployed and want a job in the majors. http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/wink.gif

Might have been nice as a backup SS, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it...
