Kendry Morales?

Recommended Posts

I don't believe it will happen. Sounds like the Angels plan on playing Trumbo at 3B or in the outfield and having Morales DH or play 1B when Pujols needs a day off. But if they change their mind I would completely on board with trading for him.

'Playing Trumbo at 3B & LF, and playing Morales when we can fit him in' ... is GM-speak for 'One of these two guys can be had via trade. Call me.' However, I hope the Brewers just stick with Gamel.

Isn't there a possibility Morales might not be ready for the start of the year? I thought I read that somewhere.
Yes, I believe I heard on ESPN or MLB Network that he is almost ready to jog now. I still think he is a risk worth taking.

Whether he can play at the beginning of the year or not he is a guy I would want in Milwaukee. Here are their numbers since 2009 when Kendrys became a starter.

Kendrys .301/.352/.548/.900

Fiedler .286/.408/.546/.954

Fielder has the OBP advantage (I think a lot of that is because Prince has never really had anyone behind him, Prince was intentionally walked 32 times last year, Kendrys 16 times in his career) but their SLUG is essentially the same. He'll be a defensive improvement over Prince too. My only concern would be the leg injury. You knew Prince was going to play every game, Kendrys has now missed a year and a half with the same injury.

... but Walden is dirt cheap, young, and will only get better.
...or Walden could pull a Turnbow and the Angels would be glad they had K-Rod.

I don't think any relief pitcher could pull a Turnbow. His collapse was truly epic. One of a kind.

Nah, we have Gamel. People tend to forget Gamel was at top 30 prospect in ALL of baseball. All he has done is produce. He is a professional hitter, that is what he does. If he could have thrown a ball to first on target and stayed healthy in Spring Training when he was 23,24, and 25 he would have been a starter than. I like Morales but he tends to get banged up and I'm not sure if he'd produce anymore than Mat.

I like Gamel too. I also like Morales. I'd love to have them both.

McGehee for Morales is a no-brainer for the Brewers. Morales probably makes less money and is the better player. K-Rod for Morales would be good for the Brewers just to get some salary relief/flexibility. I like Gamel & Green, and am fine if they're the starters, but if we're able to add a talented player for someone we don't really want anyway, you do that deal in a heartbeat.

Exactly. They need more guys that can potentially help fill the void from Fielder leaving.

Who ever had Gamel as a top 30 prospect in all of baseball? I'm not sure he ever cracked the top 100 on any major lists.

Really, never cracked the top 100 on any major list? If you didn't remember a simple google search would have yielded the truth.

TheCrew, some have totally forgotten that Gamel was so highly thought of. What's funny is that many of them are high on Taylor Green. I've been high on both for several years now, but I have to say Gamel is more closer to a sure thing since he's had multiple seasons that were outstanding, whereas Green has really had 1.5 great seasons. I'm hoping for big things out of our G-guys--Gamel, Green, and Gindl. I think all could hit .285+ with nice OBP's and 15-25 hr power. Best part is, all bat left-handed.

You sir are on the same page as me. Agree with everything you said.

I don't get why everyone thinks Kendrys is so great. He has had one good year in his entire career, ONE. He put together a good season in 2009 when he played 152 games. The other 4 years he played in the bigs he played in a total 178 games. Why do we want to trade for this guy????
