Obligatory Hanley Ramirez Thread

What would it take to get Hanley now that the Fish have Reyes? I'm assuming the Fish plan on sliding him over to 3rd, but that really hurts his value. Could the Brewers land him?

Hanley

for

Peralta

Thornburg

Nyjer or Gomez

Richardson/K Davis

There's already reports that they plan to move him to 3rd, and he's ok with it. I have my doubts that they'd just sign Reyes knowing that Ramirez would then force a trade after. I think the plan all along was to move Ramirez to 3B, so they targeted Reyes. They seem to be ready to go all-in. I don't think anyone has a shot at him, much less the Brewers with their already thin farm system.

Absolutely zero chance he is traded unless he demands a trade and sits out all season (even then he is under contract and doubt they trade him). Hes going to love Ozzie, he is going to love winning, and he is going to love playing with Reyes and who knows maybe Albert. You don't trade your franchise right when you want to become contenders. He will play 3rd or maybe OF is that is what he wants instead. It is Ozzie and Hainleys team, Reyes is just a side kick.

Also if a miracle happened and they were willing to deal him, that offer would not get it done. They'd need at the very least 3 top 30-50 players in milb. I don't even think we have one cracking the 100 (Is Peralta?)

What it would take is more than the offer you put forward and no the Brewers could not get him in a trade as there isn't enough trade chips in the farm system to get Hanley Ramirez.

This would be closer to what the Marlins would be looking for in return of Ramirez.

Brewers get Ramirez
Marlins get Braun

i wouldn't see the Marlins wanting prospects so much as solid players to build themselves into a winner right away. they don't sign Reyes and make offers at Pujols to then trade for prospects. first i heard Ramirez was happy to move to 3rd, then that he wasn't happy with it, so who knows what the real situation is.

i would think Hart, Marcum and Gomez (but then i don't know the Marlins' needs too well). but DM has always stood by the idea that he's not going to trade for a player by creating a hole at another position. and we don't have the prospects in place for them to just jump in and fill the production that any of our Major League guys give.

That's how I feel. Ramirez may have privately scoffed at changing positions, but at the end of the day, he'll play 3B if the Marlins tell him to.

He's already had one very public spat with the organization; I'd be surprised if this turns into another.

That's got the chance to be an incredible left side of the infield. I was trying to think last night what other MLB teams could match up with that, and I couldn't come up with any.

That was the first thing that popped into my mind. Perhaps when they first traded for ARod, it wouldn't be blue. Got to be in blue now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
