Brewer All-Home Grown Team

I thought it would simply be fun to look at what our team was like if we only had players that we drafted or signed as amateur free agents. I only included draft picks we signed. And I haven't included anyone who hasn't appeared in the majors. I might have missed someone, especially guys who weren't drafted.

Looking at things, we have an impressive offense, and a bad pitching staff. We'd pound 200+ HRs with this team. I just thought it was fun to share with people.

For some reason I was thinking we drafted Nelson Cruz but then remembered we got him in the Ginter trade.

Home grown pitching won't look as bad if Peralta & Thornburg work out

If we're including Ben Sheets, what about Geoff Jenkins?

I included Sheets because I was desperate for starting pitching. He might be finished, but I figured, what the heck. Jenkins is two years retired, so I skipped him. And we have outfielders to spare. Starting pitching, not so much.

I was thinking it was players who are still active until I saw Sheets. I think it's clear that we're not going back to include guys like Yount, Molitor, Gantner, Jenkins, Vaughn, etc.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I'd put Jim Gantner as the backup 2B. He's as homegrown a player as there's ever been.

And at the age of 58 he still might be better than Bill Hall!

Oh, whoops. Haha. Forgot that we weren't going back that far. I even read all the posts!
