The Dodgers are trying to waste as much money as possible before sale goes thru-give Treanor a guaranteed $1m

endaround

I missed this when it happened, but former Brewer for a few days in Spring Training Matt Treanor was given a 1 year contract for $850K with a $150K buyout of a 2013 option by the Dodgers. At this rate its only time before Craig Counsell is a Dodger.

To be honest, I had totally forgotten about Treanor's stint as a Brewer.
I only remembered it because of the Misty May comments.

I'm going to go ahead and beef up my resume so I can send it to the Dodgers. If Treanor can get $1 million guaranteed, I'm sure I can at least get a spring training invite.

Your 2012 Opening Day starting Dodgers IF on December 1, 2011:

1B Loney

2B Ellis

SS Gordon

3B Uribe

Yuck. I'd much rather have the 106 loss 2002 Brewers starting IF of:

1B Sexson

2B Eric Young

SS Jose K.

3B Tyler Houston

Actually, when looking at the numbers, they weren't the reason we lost 106. But good God that Dodger IF is awful.

In other Dodgers trying to waste money news, Adam Kennedy has been giving $800,000 to be terrible. Is Colletti purposely trying to be fired?

All good for the Brewers. The fewer crappy back up infielders on the market, the better chance we get someone we like. I'd rather spend $2-3 million and get a guy I want - like JRJ - or go with a young player at minimum. A crappy veteran is still crappy. I want someone you believe will be decent - or at least has a chance to be decent (such as a younger player).

I liked that Justin Sellers kid from the Dodgers. Maybe these signings will help us add him.

They are going to be so bad. Colletti is trying the Sabean model, when they never put a good enough team around Bonds (of course, Ned was there at the time to learn from the master). Now that they have paid Kemp, they will assuredly be an 85-87 win team most of his career. Not bad enough to fire the GM, and maybe you luck into a championship one year.

The Dodgers are trying to waste as much money as possible...

The beat goes on -- 2/$10M to Capuano.

(actually that's not a bad deal at all)
Good for Cappy. I always liked the guy. Glad he could come back like he did.

He had a bad ERA last year, but his numbers indicate he should probably be better. Like I said, I'm happy for him. Good guy.

He had the same problem he had with the Brewers. He couldn't get out of the 6th inning. His 6th inning ERA was 8.61 and OPS against was 1.039. If you've got 4 other starters who get deep, then you can live with it. But otherwise he's sure to tax the bullpen.

Great thread title;

Matt Treanor: 12:$0.85M, 13:$0.95M club option ($0.15M buyout)

Adam Kennedy: 1 year/$0.8M (2012)

Juan Rivera: 12:$4M, 13:$4M club option ($0.5M buyout)

Chris Capuano: 12:$3M, 13:$6M, 14:$8M mutual option ($1M buyout)

Jerry Hairston Jr: 12 $3M, 13: $3M (plus incentives TBD)

Aaron Harnang: TBA soon

That's $11.6M in 2012 for 5 pretty mediocre players (or worse), and $10M committed to Capuano & Hairston in 2013, and rumor is they are Closing on a 2 year deal with Aaron Harang for about $12M. What is going on with the Dodgers? Wouldn't it make more sense to sign all this money on a star player rather than a bunch of backups or back end rotation guys who maybe no better than Nathan Eovaldi or Rubby De La Rosa? This seems completely irresponsible with the current ownership situation?
