If I remember correctly, his only other offers from "top" programs were like Baylor and Memphis or something. I'm not sure where the 3 stars comes from. Is his defense poor? I suppose everyone's been paying attention to his flashy scoring ability, I'm not really sure how good his defense is.

I dont think scouting reports have ever cared about defense. If they did Carmelo wouldnt have been a 5 star. I have no clue why Mayo was so under the radar. Maybe he had other scorers on his team. He did move high schools. Considering his brother is an NBA player you would have thought the buzz for him would have been higher.

It was not meant to be a dig at MU. His brother plays in the NBA, Todd can obviously play, and MU isn't a powerhouse college program which is why I'm surprised. He seems like the type of player that Kentucky or NC would land.

Mayo looks like he can play. Why did he go to MU?

He's a great fit for their offense and they have been sending guys to the NBA.

I dont think it is slight to Marquette just a question why a guy with that pedigree didnt go to UNC, Kentucky, etc. Marquette sends guys to the NBA as late first or second round picks whereas the other schools sends guys to the lottery. Marquette is a very good basketball school, those other schools are Final Four contenders almost every year

wow, Xavier and Cincinnati with a crazy brawl. It's an intense rivalry. My friends that went to Xavier used to always think they were taking the high road despite the fact that their players were as thuggish as the Cinci teams under Huggins. Pretty crazy, as both teams face heavy suspensions

gotcha. I didn't equate "he can play" with him being a big time talent who should be recruited by KU, UNC, etc. To me, "he can play" means hes a pretty good player. And that's why I thought it was a dig.

Anyways... GO MU!

Madison at Milwaukee tonight.

Looks like we might be without Kyle Kelm.

Any slim chance we had at an upset are gone if he's not close to 100%.

UW-Milwaukee looked dead in the water the first half but they battled back really well. Glad to see that program rising back up. It would be great to have 3 teams in the tourney this year

UWM looks solid and well balanced. They will be tough to beat in the Horizon. UW needs to get its act together...especially Taylor. His shot selection leaves a lot to be desired. Nice to see some inside scoring from Evans though and the team as a whole seems to be driving more and catching some foul calls. Just need to gel a little more.

The Horizon League looks to be Milwaukee, Cleveland, and Valpo this year, with Butler, Detroit, and Youngstown in that second group.

I can't help but think a healthy Kyle Kelm would have given us the extra boost to win that last night. He's already in the discussion with Adrian Tigert as our best low post player ever.

Taylor may be in a slump right now but Ryan Allen is also a great defensive player. If he doesn't win Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, they might as well not even give out that award anymore. He plays NBA caliber D and can jump out of the gym. I haven't been able to ask him yet this year, but I'm sure he was playing quite a bit against his brother Tony Allen who plays for the Grizzlies and a few of his teammates over the summer. That can't hurt your growth as a player.

We saw some of it again last night, but when Evan Richard (from Cuba City) finally stops thinking and just lets his natural ability to take over, he's going to be really fun to watch. Also Jeter just needs to let the kid go. Time to take off the training wheels. And we have him for another 3.5 years (hopefully). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hope some of you come out and see us this year. This is a really good team. The best we've had since the SW16 team, no doubt.

Schedule : http://uwmpanthers.cstv.c...wiml-m-baskbl-sched.html

Well ...

Regular tickets are only $10. And there are not many bad seats in the old Mecca.

Valpo and Cleveland should be great games. Like I said it's between us three for the League title this year. Cleveland is tough. They won at Vandy earlier in the year when Vandy was ranked around 10th.

Butler of course, even thou they are rebuilding this year, is always a good game.

Green Bay coming up next at the Mecca on Jan 7 is a big in-state rivalry game. (I guarantee you won't see a fight like in the Xavier-Cincy game.)

- If you have kids, we have a great deal on January 28 against Valpo and February 18 for the Braketbuster game. Kids under 12 get in for $1. We have facepainting, coloring booth, and they can go on the floor after the game to shoot a free throw and get some autographs. Both are afternoon Saturday games.

- For all January Home games we've got a "four tickets, four hot dogs, four chips, four sodas, and four Panther t-shirts for $60 deal. And we have 6 home games in January. Which kind of stinks because the students are mostly on break.

Cleveland St looks like the top team in the league this year, but I also am expecting UWM to be a top contender in the conference. You can't count out Valpo or Butler....heck, Butler needed a miracle to even make the big dance last year.

I always love following the Horizon league, MVC, WCC (where I went to school), and Big East. The CAA can be fun, too

If you can only make it out to one Milwaukee game, Cleveland might be the one. That one might determine the conference regular season champ.

I'm counting out Butler already. Even their fans are. They don't have one guy in their starting 5+1 that I would take over our starting 5+1. I wish we could have played them with Hayward and Mack this year. Both would have been seniors this year.

"Are there any pro prospects on Valpo, Cleveland, or Butler?"

Butler is a no right off the bat. Cleveland just sent one to the NBA. Not sure about Valpo. We have Ryan Allen. If he keeps working on his shot, he's got a good chance. I don't think about that much thou, since I have no use for the NBA.

Absolutely pathetic. I don't know where this three-point fest the last few years came from, but I have no interest in watching it. And may we finally discuss the giant elephant in the room? Jordan Taylor has been terrible almost all season.

They had totally gotten away from that three point game and the second they go back to it they lose. Although the defensive lapses tick me off more than the offense. Just not ready to play at all. Terrible game.

They scored 65 points, that should be more than enough for this Wisconsin team to beat Iowa. Their defense was terrible, utterly terrible, and Jordan Taylor didn't show up at all.

As an aside, I believe that was the first time (when I wasn't working there) that the Badgers lost a home game at the Kohl Center that I attended.
