Well Martin is leaving KSU this year for South Carolina but going from Marquette to Kansas State seems like a lateral move at best.

SMU would make no sense; they surely don't have the budget to give him an offer he can't refuse. Buzz is surely a hot commodity and if he does leave marquette it has got to be one of those Top 10 coaching jobs; not SMU.

Apparently they do have a lot of money. Really rich boosters. I agree it makes no sense but Marquette fans at their two main message boards seem to think it is a real possibility because Buzz and they AD dont get along or something like that

I was following along with the Buzz vs the AD thing, and it seems like mostly rumors. MU also spends a lot more on athletics than SMU. MU should have no problem outspending to retain Buzz. After Crean left, there was a lot of talk from the University about how MU wasn't a stepping stone, it may be time for them to put their money where there mouth is.

Also, if you look at the committed recruits coming in, they could be something really special in 2 years. Its a long way off, but Cracked Sidewalks just had a blog post where his projection system has them being better than any team was this year. I know its a long ways off, but his projection system has been pretty remarkable so far, with this years Final 4 being in its top 5 last June (UNC was the extra at 1, and Cuse w/Mello was 6th IIRC).

Buzz is from Texas, thus the appeal of SMU being located in Dallas. From what I hear, Buzz would only consider leaving MU for a school in Texas.

The best case scenario for Marquette next year is to be a poor-man's Syracuse this year where they have a really deep team but not really any stars.

5 - Otule/Gardner/Durley

4 - J. Wilson/S. Taylor

3 - Blue/Anderson/Jones (would not be surprised if Jones transferred)

2 - Mayo/TJ Taylor

1 - Cadougan/D. Wilson

Speaking of recruits, anyone know what the scoop is with Phillip Nolan? Even if Marquette had a scholarship, would he even be eligible or would he need to go to JuCo/prep school? If Otule doesn't get the medical redshirt (hasn't he taken a medical redshirt already?), they'll need Nolan's height.

Exactly. Buzz grew up in Van Alstyne which is less than an hour from Dallas. If he still has family there and SMU is willing to pay him as much or more than Marquette, why wouldn't he go there?

SMU won't let him cover up transgressions by his players?

Is SMU joining the Big 12? I thought that I heard that, but I always get them confused with TCU. If not, I wouldn't think that a move from the Big East to Conference USA would be considered a good career move, unless you are getting a truckload of money. They did give June Jones a nice contract, but I've always considered them to be a football school.

They are joining the Big East.

Good God. I knew that I wasn't able to keep up with all the money-driven conference re-alignments. They shouldn't be able to call themselves the Big East if they have teams West of the Mississippi.

They wont be joining until after next year for the record.

Buzz isn't going to SMU so its not a big deal. All these rumors are so annoying.

Along with SMU will be Boise State and San Diego State. The conference name will make as much sense as the Big 10.

Mbakwe got a 6th year waiver for Minnesota, no reason to think Otule won't since he's never transferred.

Just my take, but Nolan peaked early, I think. Has had trouble staying on the court and will probably end up going JUCO. He's not the 4 MU needs at this point either. Very, very slim and likes to stray outside.

One name to keep an eye on is Jameel McKay, a 6-8 PF from Milwaukee Pulaski. He's going into his second year at Indian Hills JC, one of the best JUCO programs in the country. Dwight Buycks also played there. He's getting high major offers, and it wouldn't shock me if he came home.

Buzz is one post player away from that 2013 class being absolutely loaded with Deonte Burton on the wing, and Duane Wilson at PG.

I think he just legitimately thought he didn't cross the line before the ball hit the rim. Watching the replay, it was closer to him being 'onsides', if you will, than I thought initially.

That KU win pretty much guaranteed me 2nd place in my 50 person pool.

I told a buddy who is a Louisville fan that I was expecting this season to not exist in 5 years for Kentucky. I think that is probably a worthwhile bet.

That was the most boring NCAA tourney I have ever witnessed; not one single buzzer beating and really the final outcome was never in doubt. Kentucky and their all star team were never threatened.

The 7 foot stiff from Illinois is going pro.

I've never watched a guy that big who could move as well as he could in spurts just not care on the court the way he did.

Leonard would have been a lock for the Bucks back in the late 80's. I'm assuming that if this is truly a deep draft, he will fall to the bottom third of the first round.
