Nostalgia moment: I can't believe it has been 12 years.

Yeah, I still remember parts of that crazy train run like it just happened. After UW beat Fresno State I remember thinking, "phew, at least they won the game they were 'supposed' to win." Even I could tell that Arizona was the weakest of the 1-seeds that year, so I wasn't as surprised when the Badgers won that game. The one that surprised me was LSU. Did they not have tape of the Arizona game, or did they just not care? Anyway, when it came down to Purdue (sorry, TheBwaz), I thought, "whoa, they can beat Purdue. We saw them beat Purdue in the regular season."

When the UW/Purdue game ended, the S.O. and I sat in stunned silence for a moment. Then our phone rang, the first of several "Do you believe it?" calls we got. I stuck my head out the side door of our house and was surprised to hear random whooping all over the neighborhood. There was also a helicopter stationed above Regent Street - to this day I have no idea why. It wasn't the MedFlight and Madison doesn't have a traffic chopper.

Then we went to the stadium to welcome home the Badgers at 12:30 AM. The east side of the stadium was full. It was an all-ages crowd and everyone behaved. I think it was partly out of fan shock that things didn't get out of hand. It was evident that the players didn't expect this big a welcome-home. This is my all-time favorite Camp Randall Stadium memory.

UW-Green Bay women, ranked 10th in the nation, get a 7 seed. Their opponent if they win is the 2 seed Kentucky, ranked 11th in the polls.

And to top it all off, they are playing there first round game at the #10 seed Iowa State's home floor. How messed up is that?

Yes. Yes he is. I can't wait to see that shot replayed.

I found that article too, but it said he was 27. He was a senior in '03 so I'd think he's closer to 30, which would make me assume that article is a couple years old. I searched for like 15 minutes but there's no easy way to find their current coaching staff. It's like people don't care that much about Montana basketball or something?!

All the Grizzlies information is on that site. Like I said previously, I'm currently attending Montana and this is definitely a football school. Bringing up the tournament around campus today got me some "honey badger" comments and general jokes about how the Grizzlies are going all the way this year. It was a pretty big deal for us to win the Big Sky championship at home, and anything beyond that is frosting.

EDIT: http://missoulian.com/college/griz/speltz-anything-is-possible-just-ask-freddie/article_6e75f1be-6b54-11e1-8f71-001871e3ce6c.html Here's a blurb about Freddie Owens and "the big shot". I'd summarize it, but I can't read it since I have reached my 20 articles per month quota with the Missoulian. Dumb.

VCU over Wichita State. VCU was in the Final 4 last year. Experience.

Although Shaka is a very good coach, this is not a good basis to go by. Past experience means nothing for smaller schools. Butler was the other final four team last year, this year they'll be lucky to win a first round game in the NIT. VCU lost 4 of their 5 starters of last year team and Wichita State is sweet 16 bound IMO with their top ranks in the major categories (15th/PPG - 13th/FG%).

The NCAA has always been funny.

In 2000-2001 Carthage (Division III) was ranked 1st in the nation at the end of the year. They were actually ranked 1st in the nation every week but one. They even played at Eastern Illinois during that season and only lost by 1. This is the same Eastern Illinois that got a 15 seed in the Division I tourney.

Come tourney time, the NCAA told us that our facility was only big enough to host the first round. During the Elite 8, there are 500 Carthage fans and 2500-3500 Ohio Northern fans. That makes sense, since we were playing at Ohio Northern. We lost by 2 points in a year we should have won the title. All because the NCAA cared more about having more tickets to sell.

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.

One of my Facebook friends posted a photo he took in a Twin Cities-area Target yesterday showing a display of University of Montana basketball t-shirts. That's taking anti-Wisconsin to a new level.

They need someone to root for in the tourney since Tubby cant get them there (and when he does he cant win a game).

Not only that but another mid-major in Delaware is ranked 8th in the nation and gets a 3 seed.

Well... tonight, the Gophs start their pursuit of their third NIT title in the past 20 years or so (though I'm not sure one of them is on the books anymore). Have to give them credit for that :)

What's so weird about that?

I think that there may be unprecedented upsets in the first round this year. I've got two 14 seeds in my Sweet 16. St. Bonnie's and Iona (sorry Marquette fans). I think that this may also be the year a #1 seed goes down (I looked at the Syracuse/UNC-Asheville game long and hard). I could see Wichita State or St. Mary's in the Final Four as well.

At least you still have time to change it.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

That baby was looking golden at halftime last night...

One team ranked 8th in the country, the other ranked 10th in the country, both mid majors so neither are going to have strong schedules and one gets a 3 seed and the other gets a 7 seed. You don't think that's weird?

Is there a woman's bracket I can bet on?
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I was only referring to the Delaware seeding. Sorry
