Illinois is not a prestige job anymore. The most likely scenario is that a mid-major team will make a run to the Sweet 16/Elite 8 or better, and Illinois will hire their coach. Put me on the record for guessing Wichita State's coach, Gregg Marshall.

I think it is. It's one of those "sleeping giants". It wasn't so long ago they were awesome for like 20 years straight. Just takes a guy that can recruit Chicago and they're right back up there.

This is the Rob Wilson we got flashes of as a Freshman. Happy to see (hear) it, and I hope he can keep it going for the rest of the month.

I was reminded late in the 2nd half that the game was available on ESPN3.com and connected just in time to see Rob's last 3-ball (aka the dagger, perhaps). Better late than never, Rob. Rob Wilson was even trending worldwide on Twitter for a bit.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

4/5 game in the BTT that was like a 4/5 in the NCAAs. Loved to see Wilson cap it off with that last 3. There was 1 guy on ESPN following enough to recognize that he'd been playing well and this game didn't come out of nowhere.

Two horrible non-calls at the end of the half: 1) Green was completely out of bounds when he saved that ball, and 2) He fouled Evans on that jumper.

As a MU fan, a 3 or 4 makes no difference to me. If they are a 3 seed they might draw a nightmare sweet 16 matchup like Missouri/Baylor/Kansas, or they could draw Duke or a big 10 team. If they fall to a 4, the could be in with Kentucky/UNC or they could get a big 10 team or Syracuse. Its all about the matchups and locations.

Wouldn't it be ironic if MU got the 3 seed in Kentucky's region, setting up a rematch from '03 with a chance to go to New Orleans...

And Wisconsin could make a run to the Sweet 16 in the same regional before getting destroyed by Kentucky.

I don't really see either team dropping seeds at all, which are still likely 3 (MU) and 4 (UW). Maybe Florida State jumps up to a 3 and takes a spot from Marquette, but I think Michigan and Georgetown (just going off Lunardi's bracket here so who knows) are weaker 3's than Marquette so they should be alright.

Vanderbilt will not make the Final Four simply because Seth Davis predicted they would.

Does anyone know anything about Vandy? They just beat the "unbeatable" Kentucky so they will be a trendy pick to go deep. Davis made mention of a 2nd round game vs. Wisconsin being a bad matchup for them, but he was too excited to jump on the bandwagon that he dismissed that matchup as being any kind of obstacle to a Cinderella run to the final four.

You don't have an Adam Wainwright. Easily the best gentlemen in all of sports. You don't have the amount of real good old American men like the Cardinals do. Holliday, Wainwright, Skip, Berkman those 4 guys are incredible people

I know that Vanderbilt shoots (and makes) a ton of three's, but Wisconsin defends the three very well. Other than that nothing really stands out that much for them. I'm not sure exactly why Davis would say that, other than the fact they beat Kentucky a few hours ago and he probably felt like he had to make a bold claim.

Actually UW doesn't defend the 3 very well - look at their performances against Butler, Cornell, Davidson, etc., in the tourney the last few years. UW struggles defending guys 6'4"-6'7" who shoot the 3 because their guards are too short to defend them. If John Jenkins (6'4", 45% from 3) and Jeffrey Taylor (6'7", 43% from 3) shoot their averages or better, UW doesn't stand a chance. Vandy's weakness is PG, and JT needs to play a lot better than he has been playing for them to win.

Vandy smoked Marquette in non-conference earlier this year at the Bradley Center.

I don't see how the games against Cornell and Davidson matter at all. And Butler didn't really shoot all that great, UW just shot worse. UW has just run into buzz saws the last few years. Davidson was good. They lost to eventual champion Kansas by two points. Cornell smoked a very good defensive team in Temple before beating UW. Butler played in the Final Four two years in a row. UW has just had bad matchups.

As for this year's team, yes they defend the three very well. Not necessarily due to percentages (which are very good) but due to the fact that they don't allow other teams to shoot many threes. They're third in the country ins 3pt FGA/FGA

I was happy for Kevin Stallings after Vandy won the SEC crown. I really can't understand how a guy like Calipari has cheated at every major job he's had, & he still gets hired to big-money deals & is praised by commentators. Then you have a guy like Stallings. Cool to see.

I would rather have seen a Marquette/Indiana matchup.

anyone interested in a bf.net pool, if so would people prefer yahoo or espn?

I'd be interested. No preference either way.

If the Murray State/Colorado State game goes 2 hours, then Marquette will start 35 minutes after Wisconsin. Hopefully we see overtime in the first game to prolong the Marquette start a little bit. At least this way we should be able to see most of the first half of Wisconsin before MU starts.
