Milwaukee Bucks 2011/2012

GB12
This is one draft where it makes no sense to trade up. It's deep, but there aren't multiple guys with the potential to be franchise players. After Davis (and I'm not convinced that he's going to be a superstar), I don't think that there is much of a drop off with not much difference between the #2 and guys at the end of the lottery. Many people seem very high on Drummond, but I think that he's going to be a major bust. He looks every bit the dominant force until he steps unto the court. Outside of being a rebounding/defensive presence largely due to his size, he was largely a non-factor for Connecticut last year. Didn't the Bucks already have Benoit Benjamin?

I really think the Pacers are the blueprint for those without superstars, and they are following the Pistons blueprint before them.

Yes, what we should do, is model ourselves after the one franchise to do it that way and win a title in the last 30 years.

Instead of the franchises who won the other 29 titles.

The alternative is to wait 30 years for a superstar to fall in our lap, and then hope you can build the right talent around him. Taking a dive doesn't guarantee you'll get a star. You only need to look back to the Bogut pick. Frankly, I doubt Davis will be a star.

So you can unload your roster and get a top pick for a couple years. Doesn't mean you'll gt a Kobe or LeBron. I think the Pacers are a good model, as are the Hawks. Neither has won anything, but at least they're very competitive, and with some tweaking just may win it all.

Well, this is interesting...http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/nba/182710/rockets-trade-dalembert-to-bucks-for-package

The Rockets have traded Samuel Dalembert and the No. 14 pick to the Bucks in exchange for Jon Brockman, Jon Leuer and Shaun Livingston.

No draft choices sent by the Bucks... I thought that Houston was attempting to stockpile picks. If so, I like this one a lot. Hopefully now they don't trade both picks to move up.

That seems like a really strong deal. Dalembert fills that whole at C and we pick up another draft pick? They could get two quality players at #12 and #14 if they choose not to trade up.

Hammond likes to trade crap for crap a lot; but this deal actually makes some sense. Brockman and Livingston aren't in the long term plans and while Leuer showed promise he probably won't be anything more than a 8th man or so. Getting a solid C and another high draft pick seems like a solid trade

If I recall, Dalembert is pretty much a defensive specialist. Hate giving up on Leuer, who I thought showed pretty well last year. If no picks go back to Houston, I have a hard time finding anything wrong with this. Pretty much turning a 2 into a 1...with Livingston and Brockman being fodder. *EDIT, nevermind, I see we get Dalembert for the 2 slot drop. Meh.

Hey, a true 5 that can play defense! As he's an expiring contract it isn't a long term fix, but short term he is probably a better fit than anyone that can be had in the draft.

With Udoh and Sanders as backups C should be situated. They still have a glut of forward types, so I'm guessing they may now be thinking guard.

I'll be surprised if one of the 2 young guys don't take Dalembert's minutes. He couldn't wrestle away time from Marcus Camby last year. Logic dictates that we take a guard, and Ross would seem to be the man. That being said, I think they go Terrence Jones.

i think it's a solid trade. I don't know if Dalembert can play 30 minutes a game, but if he does I think he's a 10/10 player with solid defense. He's as average as average can be.....but that's an improvement. Agree that it's shaping up to take a guard, but I could still see them taking Leonard if they like him. He's going to be a project, and now he would be coming off the bench for a season behind Dalembert.

Although position shouldn't really matter, just take the best guy. I really like a lot of guys, so that's why I don't mind moving down. I'm not sure how much I trust him, but I think I'm ready to swing for the fences and take Perry Jones if he's around. And i know a lot of people are down on Sullinger (he's dropped out of the lottery in a lot of mocks), but I think if he's there at 14 you have to consider him. The guy knows how to score, is a solid rebounder, and a pretty good passer.

With this being a make or break year for both Hammond and Skiles I just don't know that they will draft someone that won't be able to help immediately. Skiles and Hammond can't like the current team enough to actually think they can contend in 2012-2013. Or atleast I hope they aren't thinking that

the bucks may finally have a decent mixture of scorers / defensive players. while the bucks will not score much inside next season, they have a bunch of players who can get rebounds and play d in the paint. the bucks will have to rely on scoring from their guards. i just hope they get a shooter at 14.

If the target was Royce White, and the Bucks have shown no interest in him, they would be trading back to take him. Drafting him at 14 would be a huge reach.

I'm not sure. Something in my gut tells me that White is going to be a good player in the league. He kind of reminds me of Shawn Marion. That said, he's build like Marcus Fizer which scares me, in addition to the Iowa St. tie. I think the the major issue is that he will be a SF and his shooting is pretty suspect. There are some other issues with him, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn into one of the better players from this draft.

i think my final wish list is (changing it after the trade) is

1. lamb

2. perry jones 3

3. terrence ross

4. terrence jones

draft express and nbadraft.net's mock's after the trade has the bucks taking leonard, if they do that i'm going to scream.

I'm not saying he won't be a good player, I'm just saying 14 would be a reach for him when he could probably be had in the 20-25 range. He'd be a good trade candidate if the Bucks say traded back for 21 and 22 from Boston or something.

I'm pretty close to this. I'd go Lamb, Ross, and then I'm indifferent on either Jones after those 2. I'd take either. I would be sick to my stomach if they took Leonard at 14. I really think Lamb or Ross will fall though, but if they don't we're probably looking at the choice of Leonard or one of the Jones's. In that case, they might take Leonard. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

i know he refused a workout with milwaukee, but i'd still think about rivers at 14 too (probably would put in #2 on my list)

i also believe that if the rockets can't swing a trade, they will take zeller or leonard since they have no center. that would take one out of the 2 off of the board.
