This saves them an absolute ton of money next year. I guess that's a plus?

Ellis is a decent player, who doesn't play defense, can't shoot 3's, and won't play much at all in Skiles' system. He'll get buried just like Jackson.

Funny, Simmons just tweeted the exact opposite.

Is this Yahoo report true? Monta + Udoh/Kwame for Bogut/SJack? No picks? I really hope GSW is getting more in the deal than that.

Here comes another run for the 8 seed! MILWAUKEE BUCKS! GREEN AND GROWING!

Ellis can really, really score the ball. He is averaging 22 PPG this year, 19.6 in his career. Along with 6 assists. How he meshes with Skiles...not so sure. But Skiles might be gone next year. Jennings and Ellis together could be really exciting. Huge void in the middle, but we have that normally with Bogut usually injured. Udoh is still really young and very athletic.

Brown is a turd and was only salary cap evener and has just this year left. Plus Jackson is now gone. I like the trade, but it's not great. Bogut's value just simply isn't that valuable due to all his injuries I feel.

It does save lots of money next year but I don't know who would actually come here.

Ellis can really, really shoot a lot. Just like Brandon Jennings.

If you like to watch tons and tons of missed 18 foot jumpers, be excited for the rest of the season. And next season. And... who knows after that.

Edit: Ellis has a 51.6% True Shooting%, Jennings a 50.7%.

League average is about 53%.

That's the thing. All things being equal we rank up there with Cleveland as players Free Agents want to come. We need to build through the draft. Hammond doesn't seem to get that. Ellis is just another in a long line of band-aids that won't turn around the fortunes of the team. Ellis---> Jackson---> Salmons ---> Maggette ---> Richard Jefferson ---> Charlie Villanueva ---> Bobby Simmons---> Keith Van Horn. Every year it's someone else and every year it fails.

The Bucks gave up virtually nothing they were currently using and added Ellis and Udoh. It should make them better THIS year, which sadly, means they likely get into the playoffs in th 6-8 range and get hammered in round 1.

Ellis has a player option, so it will be two seasons.

I saw someone put this on twitter. At this point, Ellis and Jennings have combined for the most missed shots of any two teammates in the NBA this season.

I don't mind the trade. The trade with the rockets that didn't happen obviously happen would have been a lot better though.

ESPN's John Hollinger disagrees. Cited Scolla's $$$ as big difference. Thinks this is the better trade.

As for getting into the lottery....meh. There's like five guys in the NBA at any one time that you basically have to have on your team in order to win a championship and the odds of getting one as the fifth or sixth team in the lottery are infinitesimal. It's a total crapshoot. NBA is a joke. I don't know why I even casually watch anymore.

This trade confuses me a bit, but I don't understand why the armchair GM's are so fascinated with mid-first round picks. I guess it makes the pre-draft and draft stuff more entertaining. It's like they would rather hold the 12 spot in the lottery next season than have Ellis.

Yes, absolutely. Than be paying Ellis 33M over the next 3 years.

For the three seasons those two have been together, Golden State has outscored its opponents by 160 points when Curry plays and Ellis sits despite being badly outscored overall. And, in the opposite situation, the Warriors have been outscored by 399 points.

They could've had Curry. They also could've gotten Scola, Dalembert and No. 1 pick plus other considerations for Bogut and Jackson from the Rockets.

They took the worst of the poo poo platter, instead of buying out or amnestying Jackson.

I would rather have the 12 spot. This draft stands to be one of the deepest in years and they Bucks could get a pretty good player at #12. Like I said before, Ellis is just another in a long line of band aids.

Best tweet I saw on this:

"Essentially, the Bucks traded for the guy who let Brandon Jennings score 55 points."

I dont mind the trade in the fact that a) saves $, b) waiting for Andrew to get healthy seems pointless and c) it does boost them a bit this season.

The style of play has to be up-tempo. Obvioulsy. I don't know how they will defend enough. There are some defenders on the team, but might not be enough of them, or enough shots to go around. Regardles, it's still interesting.

...does it feel the Bucks are still digging out from the Ray Allen trade?

While looking at the stats for these players I was surprised to see that Kwame Brown is already 30. It didn't seem that long ago that he was drafted as a high schooler, for a draft bust he has sure stuck around a long time.

Brown is a decent role player, he just never lived up to the #1 billing. Udoh can rival Sanders for role of most offensively inept defensive specialist. Hollinger made a good point about Skiles having success running a fast tempo game with Ben Gordon. Not sure if he can repeat that success with Ellis.

I don't know about this one. I subscribe to the rule that you do not trade a good big man for a small. I'm also skeptical about the ability of Ellis and Jennings to coexist. Maybe Ellis will reign in Jennings somewhat, or maybe this signals that Jennings is gone after the season. This trade does seem better than most of the others that I've seen out there. Not sure why many coveted Stephen Curry or a pick in the 10-20 range.

This seems like an Eh trade to me as well. Just hoping for a one year fix similar to the way Salmons played when he was traded to the Bucks 2 years ago. Hope to catch lightning in a bottle. This probably does improve the team this year; Jackson and Bogut weren't playing anyway. However this does nothing to address the Bucks long term issues.

And I have no idea how Skiles is not going to rip Monta's head off when he doesn't play D.
