Milwaukee Bucks 2011/2012

GB12
I don't put too much trust into Woelfel rumors, but I agree that I think its bad timing to trade Bogut. I hope the Bucks are just putting his name out there to see what he can get, and only trade him if they can get significant value back.

Of course they beat the Knicks tonight.

Of course. Let there be.... hope?

Sigh.

Ersan is a beast. I really hope they move him.

I love to see the Bucks beat the Knicks. Same with the Bulls and a few other teams. I don't necessarily have a philosophical objection to tanking but I want the Bucks to beat the Knicks every time they play.

Barkley is right. The NBA needs contraction.

There is no point in trading one of Bogut, Ersan, LRMAM, Delfino, etc. Just blow the whole thing up. Nobody on the entire team should be held out of trade discussions. They need to acquire draft picks.

Not convinced they'll ever do that with Kohl in charge, though.

I'm sure the players union agrees. Just have a 10 team league with two teams in L.A., three teams in Miami South Beach, a team in Vegas, two in New York, Boston and Chicago (the last three can only play home games after March 1st). :)

The problem for trading for draft choices is that with the surplus of terrible teams, I'm sure that many have the same idea.

I don't think physical's are necessary. Raef La Frentz seemed to be traded about 6 times without ever playing a game. As far as Drummond, ready Defense with no Offense often = Thabeet. He is raw, logic says stay in school and learn to play the game without the pressure. Reality says he takes the payout, and hopes to learn to play over the course of his rookie contract. It's a sheer a sheep/kill a sheep thing for me.

This is never ever true. Not commenting on contraction, just on Barkley.

Nah, that was actually just La Frentz's contract. I'm pretty certain he just stayed at home that whole time. ;)

I'll never forget Ford's first game. He looked like a star from the get go, and led the Bucks to a woodshed win on the road against the Pacers, it was like he was twice as fast as anyone else on the court. It was all downhill after the injury though. Too bad.

I distinctly remember watching that injury happen, in-game. I was horrified, but even with that I didn't think the injury would basically end TJ's career (as a top-flight PG).

one more *shudder*... that was a bad injury :(

No, I think Bogut is more likely to be traded. It's going to be an interesting couple days until the deadline on Thursday.

from what i saw as rumored as return, bucks fans are going to be disappointed. i heard a package javelle mcgee from the wizards or dalembert and courtney lee from houston.

I don't he'll be traded if thats all he's worth right now. I think they would wait until healthy to trade him.

I've heard other reports where the Bucks would be getting a young all star point guard too. So who knows, I'm very interested to see how it ends up.

Day one of March Madness + NBA trading deadline.

Might suffer from basketball overload.

Here's my take on the Bucks as a casual fan: 1. Skiles wears out his welcome quickly. He claims to preach defense but his teams rarely play it and they look quite average on offense. It doesn't matter what the reasons for the players not responding but if they don't the coach must go.

2. They clearly don't have enough talent, coaching issues aside. They should trade anybody they can for a reasonable return. They have two things going for them right now: Jennings and Ilyasova. Unfortunately for them neither is a superstar. Jennings if guided by the right coach might have that ability. Ilyasova, in a rare moment of honesty by a pro athlete, has all ready proclaimed he'll play for whoever will pay him the most money next season.

On a side note: the NBA financial structure is one of the worst in sports. The salary floor makes it darn near impossible to rebuild a team.

Wow, really? The last two years prior to this one the Bucks were 2nd and 4th in defensive efficiency. They obviously suck this year because Drew Gooden would rather watch a guy go by him to the basket than defend him.

Not having Bogut at C also really kills the defense.

Defense has been the least of my concerns for the Bucks. The overall lack of athletic ability, lack of offensive playmakers, and no backup C are the reasons for the Bucks downfall.

They have put a little streak together again and now have the honor of being the #8 seed and getting spanked by CHI or MIA and then getting a high teens draft pick.

This streak almost certainly takes blowing up the team out of the question as Kohl/Hammond would surely like to make the playoffs if they have a decent chance

I'm actually a bit of a Skiles fan. There are a small group of elite coaches in the NBA. Skiles fits in the mediocre middle group. But that is a big improvement from the Lets-hire-a-guy-with-BB-name (Porter, Larry K) coaches we had prior. Skiles has suffered from a serious lack of talent, but I thought he has gotten the most out of what he had.

The "Fear the Deer" year showed that Skiles can coach defense. That was a no-offense team. They still pushed Atlanta pretty far without Bogut.

I've been hearing rumors lately about Bogut and Jennings being dealt in the same deal. But I don't like the idea of bringing back more pricey vets. The idea should be to rebuild the team with a young, cheap core. That involves first round draft picks. If I were to deal those two together, I'd want at least two first rounders in return, probably more.
