Turkish Torpedo with 25 boards. Wow.
"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Hammond needs to trade Ersan ASAP. His trade value is as high as it will ever be, and he'll be vastly overpaid this offseason. No way the Bucks can afford him after throwing that ridiculous contract at Gooden. They shouldn't sign him anyway for the amount of money he'll command.

The Bucks should amnesty Gooden, though.

But they would still have to pay him.

Here's where I'm a little fuzzy. I understand they'll have to pay him for that year, but would they need to pay him for the duration of the contract as well?

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/story/2011-12-13/nba-amnesty-provision-provides-teams-with-flexibility/51892272/1

"The amnesty provision allows a team to waive a player and not have his salary count against the salary cap or luxury tax. The player will still receive his salary for the season."

But what about the next four years of Gooden's contract?

And to be honest, yes, they'd still have to pay him, but it's not my money, so I don't really care if it's not counting against the team's salary.

So they probably have 2 or 3 seconds to get down the court w/ no timeouts? Wouldn't the Magic just miss the second free throw and let time run out? That does not seem to make more sense than trying for a 3 pointer with 5 seconds left.

Horrible end to the game... but at least it wasn't Martell Webster...

I was going to bring that up.... he looked pleased with himself didn't he?

As for Sanders, I'm usually all for taking the easy layup in that spot, but the Bucks had no timeouts left, so it was the wrong move. The last two possessions were an absolute farce. On the first, you had two open threes passed up before the turnover, they looked like the Badgers. Back to Sanders, the guy is horrible offensively. How many bunnies and ill-advised jumpers did he miss last night? At least five. I know that people like to bag on Gooden, but if Gooden is playing, chances are they win that game going away. Jon Mac kept complimenting Sanders on his defensive play on Howard last night, but for the most part Howard owned the basket.

The Bucks need to admit where they are at as a franchise and go into a full fledged rebuilding mode. This is the year to do it. Bogut can't stay healthy and Jennings has more or less said he isn't coming back when his contract runs out. Instead of constantly adding pricey vets and overhauling the roster every year in the hopes of being the #8 seed in the playoffs, they need to get a new core to work around. Their drafts have been horrible lately (Sanders, Harris, Alexander, YI). But this is a strong draft. I think they could net an extra lottery pick by trading Jennings and maybe another one by trading Bogut. That would give them 3 lottery picks in a strong draft. They could draft a big man, a point guard and scorer. Guys I'd like to see in Milwaukee would be Anthony Davis and Thomas Robinson (may need a top 2 pick to get either of them), Sullinger, Perry Jones, Harrison Barnes, Austin Rivers, Drummond, Tyler Zeller, Bradley Beal, Kendall Marshall (pass first point guard) among others. I think with 3 picks you could draft two more "safe players" and maybe one project. But either way, Milwaukee definitely needs to go in a new direction. Right now they are happy with losing in the first round of the playoffs. The problem with this is that 1) it accomplishes nothing and 2) it lowers your draft choices in a draft that in more and more becoming a crap shoot like the MLB draft.

I can't get excited about bringing in guys like Stephen Jackson and Drew Gooden. I'd get excited about Harrison Barnes and Perry Jones.
