I think you're seriously overestimating the talent on this team. Gooden will now be playing 30 minutes a night. That alone will cause our defense to be bad. Sure we'll have games like last night where Jackson and Gooden are actually making shots but this team is going to be bad.
They held LA to 89 points. That didn't have much to do with hitting shots.

Luc Richard is pretty much Bruce Bowen at this point. The Lakers aren't very good this year, and are terrible on the road, but this win demonstrates that this team is not going to be in the running for a top pick no matter what happens. I could understand tanking if they were currently in the 4 position or something, but there are a ton of terrible teams. What I don't get is that who is so great in this draft to tank for? It looks like there are (yet again) a bunch of guys who will be projects and/or tweeners in the pros... or the current foreign flavor of the month. I think Harrison Barnes is going to be very good, but even assuming that he comes out, Roy Williams isn't exactly known for producing guys who translate well to the NBA. I can understand the frustration with not having a championship quality team, but let's face it, probably 80% of the NBA markets are in the same boat, with no realistic chance at a championship.

So Stephen Jackson blocked me on Twitter. That almost makes me feel special! What a tool...

What'd you say to him?

Prior to the game in Miami I asked this:

@DaTrillStak5 Hmm, I wonder which priority is higher: Promoting a fledgling rap career or playing in the NBA with a fat paycheck? #[/s]Bucks

I guess that I may have touched a nerve...

Would you have said that to his face? He is after all, a human being. Just because one is on the internet doesn't give one free license to talk so disrespectfully at someone. That, in my book, is a great example of "being a tool". Just my opinion. I don't fault him at all for not putting up with such blatant lack of courtesy.

I don't think there is anything wrong with tweeting stuff like "Stephen Jackson sucks", but when its "@DaTrillStak5 sucks", it crosses a line. I don't look at it as a "would you say it to his face?" situation, but a "would you text him that?" situation, since I think that's a more appropriate analogy when it comes to Twitter. We are still quite early in the whole social media interactions with athletes era, but it strikes a nerve when a guy is called out personally. It really bothered me to see the kind of stuff that people directed at Packers players this year, especially in the losses.

Yeah...I would say it to his face. He has made a choice to promote his rap career at the clubs while on the road with the Bucks instead of resting up during this shortened and compacted season. I would think that the team would have something to say as well with as much as he seems to be dogging it on the court. Does that make me a tool? If speaking my mind in a way that is 100% true then I guess that I am a tool. If my promotion of a secondary career in clubs/bars was interfering with my current career job I would get fired...not suspended for a game or relegated to being a bench player.

Maybe I'm too old to understand, but I have no idea why any pro athlete would put themselves out there on Twitter without utilizing a PR agency to make the 'Tweets'. It seems if you are randomly typing things in, only bad things can come out of it. This isn't even mentioning the fact that some fans will be sending trash talk the other way. I have no sympathy whatsoever for that baby PR from the 49ers getting his feelings hurt. Instead of crying to the media, perhaps he should have shut down his Twitter account or made it only accessible to family and friends (I'm assuming that you can do that).

He got death threats for stuff that happened in a football game. That's absolutely ludicrous.

Agreed. I'm not saying that it's right, but I'm sure that goats have been getting death threats forever. I would guess that 'Twittering' and crying to the press will only serve to instigate the yahoos even more. Williams would have been best served to lie low for awhile. His skin is way too thin to be interacting with fans on the net, especially considering the veil of anonymity gives people added 'courage'.

I had no idea there were so many Miami transplants living in Milwaukee. /blue I really hate bandwagon fans.
To be fair, most of them were never really Bucks fans. Just followed Wade when he left Marquette and became Miami fans. They weren't good at that time. But yeah, I'm sure some have jumped on now that LeBron's there too.

24 points for James in the first quarter. Wow.

That is more than Miami scored in each successive quarter.

I don't know what to think of this team. They continue to surprise me.

Yeah, hard to figure. Bogut goes down (though they were playing better before that), Jackson gets benched....and the team gets better? They are really playing like a team right now, which is awesome. Defense has been good, and Jennings has been playing like an all-star. His improvement this year is downright stunning considering the stepback he took last year.

Hope they can keep it up.

Skiles has found a role for Steve Jackson. That has helped. This team is kind of fun to watch.

I wonder if BJ plays more smoothly (lack of a better term) with a smaller, or second-option at the 5. Nothing against Bogut. Just a thought.

Since Bogut's injury, we definitely seem to be playing better, but its mostly been Brandon Jennings putting the team on his back and running with it. Maybe he performs best when he feels like he has to be the leader? I dont think there is a power struggle between the two, but some people wilt when the pressure is on their shoulders and some take their game up a notch. The great ones do the latter.

Jennings deserves to be an All Star but I am sure he will be snubbed for a bigger name. Jenning's progression from last year to this year has been amazing. He is really turning into one of those cornerstone type players.

I still am not sure what to make of this team; it appears they can beat anybody if they play well but could they beat any of the Top 4 in the East in a 7 game series? Seems a little unlikely to me.

Jennings deserves to be an All Star
Deron Williams and the reigning MVP are in this conference. Jennings isn't close to either of them. Maybe he gets the nod over Rondo with Rondo being hurt, but who knows. Heck, I'd say Kyrie Irving is having a better season thus far.

He's having a great year, he's finally (almost) stopped shooting 15 footers, and he's making more layups. If he improves just a bit more on the pick 'n roll, he'll move into that elite category.

From the off season:

The best way to summarize why Jennings jacks too many mid-range jump

shots on pick-and-roll plays is to say that he doesn’t quite know what

to do yet when he sees that third defender rotating over to cut off his

path. There are hundreds of clips where Jennings has dribbled around the

pick and gotten by the big man defending the screener, only to

stop short and pick up his dribble when that third defender is sliding

over.

This is the moment point guards have to win — that moment when three

guys are in various stages of defending you. There are lots of ways to

win that moment. You can keep dribbling toward the hoop and try to get

off a clean layup before that rotating big man can contest the shot

well. You can take another dribbler or two, draw another defender closer

to you and then kick the ball out to a shooter in the corner. You can

drive to the hoop, draw that third big man and drop a short pass to that

guy’s man — hopefully for a dunk.

All of those options are there on the video, clear as day. But

Jennings rarely takes them. His tendency is to freeze when he sees that

third guy coming and pull up for a mid-range jumper. Picking up his

dribble like that prevents all those openings described above from

developing. Jennings is a smart guy and a hard worker, and you can bet

he recognizes this.

He's stopped jacking that midrange jumper, but his decisions are still a little bit slow. Watch Livingston PnR, he is just so much quicker to realize, draw and dish, or simply attack than Brandon.

Irving has a better FG% and 3pt FG%, but Jennings has the edge in PPG, Assist/TO ratio and steals. But yeah, pretty close.

It is cool to see Jennings may have better stats than Deron Williams though...
