It really is amazing that Yuni even hit .250 with his horrible plate discipline. Guy is flat out struggling to throw strikes, and Yuni STILL sees fit to go up there hacking at just about everything.

Just about the worst plate approach of any player I've ever watched.

Problem is, I can envision a scenario where Melvin brings him back next season. I can already see Doug's press release highlighting his smoke and mirrors stats like RBI and HR and neglecting his important stats such as OBP and OPS and defense.

Nope, not after we sign Reyes.

I'm very much in the minority, but Yuni likes the high and away pitch and they were close enough to swing at. He's not up there looking for walks and he never will be. He wants that high and away fastball and that's what he got.

I'd like to believe (and I honestly do) that Melvin's smarter than this. The problem is, when the trade deadline was coming up, I think Melvin got caught up in Yuni's hot streak, and that, more than anything, lead to no deal being made for a SS. Melvin can't be blind to the multiple shortcomings that make Yuni a bad ballplayer.

Can he?

Garcia didn't offer Yuni a single pitch he could hit. Only one was close to being a strike. Why is he hitting ahead of Gomez?
No, most were close to being strikes, it's just that he should've had better situational awareness and made him throw one down the pipe before swinging with less than two strikes.
They really weren't, the only one close was the second outside fastball. But besides that they weren't pitches you could handle, especially with Yuni being late on everything.

dlk, you used the term "situational awareness" while talking about Bettancourt. You should know better.

That is Yuni's approach and has been all year. He isn't looking for a pitch he can hit well, he is just looking to make contact, but hey, at least he doesn't strike out much.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

I'm late to the party but I say Pujols gets one in the earhole tomorrow in the first inning. I know many on here are against retaliation but at some point, you have to punch the bully in the mouth or else he'll keep bullying you.
How about we keep letting them put guys on base rather than deciding to put more of their guys on base?

The best way to retaliate is to score a handful of runs.

Way to work back and take the walk. Work that pitch count, and get into that crappy bullpen ASAP.

But the TBS Pre-Game said they have like 4 closers and the bullpen is a sign of TLR's genius. I'm confused.

I can't envision garcia lasting very long here. I hope we destroy their bullpen for the series.
Remember what Yoda said:
