Math/Excel Question

thunderbat30

This is a strange question, but I can't figure out for the life of me how to set up an excel formula using a constant percentage. Maybe it's not even possible, but...

$21,668 * X% =

$100,479 * X% =

I want both 21,668 and 100,479 to go up by the same percentage. The numbers are all in different cells. Any ideas would be great as I am almost resorting to drinking.

If you have $21,668 in A1 and $100,479 in A2..

Put whatever percentage you want in say, C1. Ex: 10%.

Put the formula:

=A1*C1 in any cell and put

=A2*C1 in another

..and that should do it? If you're 'dragging' the formula across many cells, it might help to put $ signs around the percentage cell to hold it in place. (Ex: $C$1).

That was a pretty poor explanation..but I hope it helps!
