NLCS Predictions

jjfanec

Well, we had predictions for every month during the year so why not for each series? This series makes me nervous but I still going to pick the Brewers in 7. I think we win 3 of 4 at home and take one on the road. I like that we have Greinke at home against a team he has had decent success against.

The lineups mirror each others so much. Some really big bats. Some guys who are scrappy. Big players in the series - Weeks and Hart for the Crew. They need these two to produce to have a chance. Braun and Prince (for the most part) did their job in the first series. I would say Holliday and Furcal for the Cards. Holliday is coming off an injury and Furcal has been terrible against everyone but us.

I have the Brewers in 7 also. Seems like the year where they'll try to make it as dramatic as possible to win every series. We'll have Yo out-pitch Carpenter in Game 7 and take it. I think Weeks will turn it around in this series, and Yo and Greinke will carry us.

Cards in 5. Cards are extremely hot right now and other than a few scattered games the Brewers have been struggling to score runs for weeks now. Brewers win one of the first 2 at home but that's it. I also think TLR's mind games will start to affect them as the losses pile up. Hope they prove me wrong...

I also predict Morgan gets plunked, likely in one of his first 2 at-bats...

Since the start of September the Brewers are 18-12 and St. Louis is 21-10. Not that different of records. St. Louis' hotness was made to look a little better by Atlanta's epic collapse. St. Louis has been very good but only about 2 games better than the Crew

I predict LaRussa will start complaining about the lights in Miller Park within hours

And the benches will clear at least once, but there'll be no punches thrown

And at least once in my home we will boo Mark Kotsay for stepping to the plate (or would that be booing Ron Roenicke for sending him there?)

TLR will be so upset that the Brewers had the gall to go 7 with the Classies, nonetheless to load the bases in the bottom of the 9th of a tie game, that he'll order Carpenter, who has just pitched 8 2/3 scoreless innings, to hit Tony Plush, driving in the winning run...
You may run like Mays...

The Cardinals scored more runs this season - the Brewers allowed fewer runs this season - each team beat the other nine times.

Statistically, I see the Brewers with a very slight edge, like almost small enough to not even matter, which is exactly how I saw the matchup with AZ.

I think we're going to get more of what we had in the AZ series, this one will be close, and it won't end quickly. I'll take the home team by a nose, Brewers win in seven.

Cards win the series. Probably in 6 or 7. I've said it from the time the Cards acquired Furcal that he was the X-factor the Brewers needed to complete the roster. Since then, he's been a thorn in our sides and jacked 5 HR's in his limited starts against us this season. I think that dominance continues and I have to reign myself in from saying "I told ya so" to the stubborn Brewers fans that seemed to like to put his stats up vs. every other team besides the Brewers. Fact is, he helps them out defensively much more than Yuni helps us.

The Cardinals have the more complete lineup as well and I think Garcia and Carpenter are favorites vs. any SP the Brewers can match them up against.

Hope I'm wrong on this one, believe me.

Things are setting up to start a sports war between Wisconsin and Michigan:

Packers and Lions will meet at least twice, starting on Thanksgiving in Detroit, with the division lead on the line.

The football Badgers play a night game at Michigan St on October 22

There is an excellent chance the Badgers and Wolverines (or maybe the Spartans) will face off at the inaugural Big Ten Conference Championship Game

Badger hockey starts the season with series against N Michigan and Michigan Tech.

A Brewers-Tigers World Series is the only missing piece to this puzzle, and the can only happen if the Brewers beat the Cards, so

Brewers in 6.

I think Marcum will come through big in 2 home games and the Brewers will win in 7, winning only the home games again.
