2011-10-04 Brewers (Marcum) at Diamondbacks (Collmenter) - [Brewers lose, 8-1; lead NLDS, 2-1]

This is where Sutton is yelling like an idiot in the booth. (If they were doing play by play.)
Or yelling like a guy calling a game for a team that just hit a grand slam in the playoffs.
Spoken like a true guy who hasn't had to sit through multiple seasons of Sutton being your home market broadcaster with Grace as the color guy.
Just 5 years with the Brewers.

I would imagine Marcum is also a little frustrated himself for bobbling that double play ball. He had a rough inning and made the pitches to get out of it. then that happened, and then something much much worse happened.

Well, at least I get to go to bed early tonight.

I've never been a Marcum fan. He's Jeff Suppan in waiting, if you ask me. Please don't sign him to a long term contract.

Let's all overreact tonight.

It's like when Prince makes an error and people are like, "I can't WAIT until he's DH'ing somewhere in the American League!"

I've been saying that in July when Marcum was lights out.

He's a finesse pitcher who relies entirely on spotting his pitches. If his control starts wavering in the next couple years, yes, he's potentially the next Suppan.

Seemed like they disagreed what pitch to throw and Marcum was pissed that he crushed the pitch that Lucroy called.

Only thing is Lucroy didn't call the pitch to be right down the middle.

And the pitch wasn't right down the middle so that works.

Not sure which game you're watching ennder but that split the plate. So childish from Marcum...

can't say I'm shocked. We're not going to sweep every series. AZ got every break in this game and things were going their way.... before the 5 run outburst. Diamondbacks won 95 games, can't be too surprised they showed some life at home.

Rays came back 7 down last week. never say never.

You're missing the point. Those idiots feed off each other. Sutton wasn't nearly as bad with the Crew as he is in AZ.

Like I said. I expect to be at Miller Park on Friday. The Brewers cannot beat any decent team outside of this city. For whatever absurd reason, they can't. If they do win Game 5 they will lose to the Phillies in 5 games at the most.
well, it was ages ago...but they did win a series in Philly already this season. so that kinda contradicts both of your points there.
I'd like to see a breakdown of how many road series the Brewers won against teams .500 or better. Or how many teams above .500 they won a series against, period. I have a feeling it would support my point very clearly.

Obviously. That's the case for every non-power pitcher.

Verlander's a power pitcher who relies entirely on his great stuff. If his velocity starts dipping in the next couple years, he's potentially A.J. Burnett.

See, I can do it too!

Watching the Brewers game, it caught some of the plate for sure, but right down the middle not so much.

I don't think Marcum throwing the glove was childish. It's not like he slammed it down on the ground and threw a tantrum. He knew it was gone and was upset with himself. Don't think think it's a big deal.

I watched the replay, the pitch was maybe an inch or two low of being directly down the middle of the plate, so I stand by my statement. (According to the pitch locator on the bottom right of the TV)

So any pitcher now that doesn't have a 95+ MPH fastball is nothing but a Suppan in waiting? I don't buy that. Marcum was near ace level the 1st half of the year, came down to earth later in the year. He's still a very good starting pitcher, just got the worst possible umpire behind the plate tonight for his game.

Guys have to be more patient and stop swinging at the first pitch. Chances are with this zone, the pitch will be called a ball.
