Throwing the ball back after an opponents HR

jhart05

Just an FYI ...

I think the rules change during the playoffs. We have Section 235 for the playoffs, left field bleachers.

I believe the person who caught Upton's blast and threw it back on the field was kicked out of the stadium for, I would guess, "throwing something on the field".

I may be wrong, might have been for something else, but sure looked that way to us.

So, just a tip I guess. Give that ball to someone else to throw back on the field.

Peer pressure is a problem. 99% of the fans think you HAVE to throw it back, not realizing it's a Wrigley thing. Just as I refuse to do the Wave, I would refuse to throw the ball back. I saw this a couple years back. The guy (maybe even one of our very own from BF) told everyone around him that's a Cubs thing and he won't do it. Got booed, peanuts and stuff thrown at him...just stupid.

When it was thrown back the ball girl(guy) on the leftfield line tossed Uptons homerun ball back into the stands. The ball was then thrown back onto the field. I wouldn't have been surprised if the ball girl(guy) stopped tossing them into the stands for the rest of the game.

From what I saw, they did. Although part of that I think is that they want a lot of game-used balls for MLB to authenticate and sell down the road, so I saw the ball girls/guys keeping most fouls as well.

Actually, the guy didn't get kicked out. I was about 10 rows behind. They escorted the offender, and another guy who apparently yelled obscenities at the usher, to the concourse. They both returned a few minutes later.

I also witnessed a gentleman being taken in for fingerprints for selling knockoff merchandise in the Uecker parking lot.

That's what I was looking for, thanks UWGB.

By the way, watch out for my Panthers in men's college hoops this year. They are looking pretty good again. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

I'd probably just look for some kid to give it to (my own kid isn't old enough to care a bit about Dad bringing home a baseball). I still remember being at a Twins/Tigers game at the Metrodome as a kid and having a foul ball coming straight to me, I stood there with my glove up ready to catch it and the guy behind me reached up and caught it right over my head. I was so ticked off and I have vowed to just give any foul ball or HR I ever catch (unless it some historic ball) to some kid who will think it is way cooler than my throwing it in a drawer at home.

At the game on Sunday Braun tossed one of the balls he and Morgan were using to warm up into our section. There was a bit of a scrum, and the ball clanged off the gloves of about 4 adults before bunching right into the hands of a young vedor who was selling someone a soda and who hadn't been looking. She was totally surprised (and said it was the first time she'd ever actually got a ball in two years). Of course one of the fans who whiffed on his chance to catch it stuck his glove in her face for the next two minutes while she finished the transaction demanding the ball. She ultimately kept it, but man alive why someone would give her a hard time like that was beyond me.

Because our society has gone to the dogs and the guy figured (correctly) that nobody would shut him down.

I was about 2 rows in front of them. They said they had to go to the security room and call MLB to see if they could be allowed back in the game.

Yeah, I just can't understand 30 and 40 year old men tackling each other for a baseball.

No kidding

I can see getting a little extra excited if say a game winning homer is hit in your area, but on just random foul balls, many of the adult males in the crowd tend to go way overboard in their attempt to get the baseball. Come on, what would the guy do with the ball anyways? Take it home and show off his caught foul ball to everyone who comes over?

I agree with someone who posted earlier in the thread about just giving the foul ball to a kid sitting near unless you have a kid of your own who would love to have a real major league baseball. I've only got one game ball while attending a game and it came on a foul ball, i just ended up giving it to a kid sitting in the row in front of me. The excitement in his eyes was far more worth it than instead my likely just sticking the ball in a closet or box somewhere.

selling knockoff merchandise in the Uecker parking lot.

Not sure if it was the same guys but I heard the two guys selling the "Beast Mode" shirts with Fielder or Morgan on them got arrested or ticketed or whatever in the parking lot on Sunday.

Also, this guy got ejected from the Loge Bleachers during the last game of the season for refusing to take it off. Something to do with you can't have your whole face obscured. Then another guy got ejected when a few people started to point and chant at the usher-

About the obscured face thing: last season someone I know dressed up in one of those neon colored body suits. They had their faces covered while tailgating, but once they got into the stadium they were told to uncover their faces. When they got to their seats the usher told them that if they covered their faces at all they'd be kicked out. They asked why. The reason they were given was that either earlier in the year or during the previous season a female was assaulted by someone whose face was completely covered. And because the face was covered they couldn't identify who did it. So I can understand the reasoning behind not allowing people to cover their faces/heads at games.
