What really bad movies do you secretly like?

Boy Jeenius

I was watching Police Academy 2 tonight on HBO and pondering what a dull existence I really lead. It then dawned on me that even though this movie really sucks, I watch it every time it's on.

So - okay admit it. Out there are movies that you would never admit to anyone that knows you, that whenever it's on, you watch it.

You know the movie I'm talking about. The one that while you are watching it, someone enters the room, rolls there eyes, and leaves immediately.

It should be a box office bomb to make the list, but if a guy wants to admit liking a bad chick flick that made money, that counts too. Ladies, let us know your movie(s) as well. The movie of major suckitude that I watch it every time it's on is Down Periscope with Kelsey Grammer. Never miss it. Kinda sad, huh?

This is kind of similar to a thread from a few weeks ago, but I'll join in.

Real Men

Airplane! and Airplane II: The Sequal

Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux

the Rambo movies

the Police Academy films

Fletch

Necessary Roughness

Major League 3: Back in the minors

For Love of the Game (I list it, cause most of my friends hated it)

almost forgot...Baseketball

Beerfest

I never really thought of Airplane, the Hot Shots, Rambo, PA, Fletch as "bad movies". For me they always fallen under classics. They are all pretty goofy low budget flicks, but I know of few people who don't laugh out loud at them.

I would say that sequals most often qualify as "bad movies", because of the likelihood that it will make money regardless of production value. Major League 3 (which I kind of like) and Airplane 2 (which I really don't) are good examples.

We all have our own tastes, so if someone puts Airplane in this, so be it. (Although I would disagree)

Here are some for me;

Blue Chips

Meatballs II

Black Sheep

Caddyshack II

Weekend at Bernie's

St. Elmo's Fire

Private School

Wildcats

and Clifford, which is really bad, but the first 15 minutes are hysterical, especially the scene on the airplane.

aww.. loved Iron Eagle. You got love movies when the entire things is overacted. Another movie that I like that could be considered a "bad movie" is Flight of the Intruder. Has a young Wiilem Dafoe, and a very young Tom Sizemore as well as Danny Glover and Ving Rhames. I think it tanked because it came out the same year as Top Gun. Check it out, its one of my favorites.

I absolutely postively love PCU, and I still watch it every time it's on. There are so many great quotes, plus George Clinton playing "Stomp".

The chemistry safety movie. The greatest in horrible graphics and acting make for the most entertaining movie about avoiding serious injury ever made. If I could ever find one, I'd gladly add it to my collection.

In terms of regular bad movies, I guess Kingpin (not sure if its considered bad enough, but oh well).

I think it says something about my cinematic taste that I don't consider the majority of movies on this list "bad". Seeing as the movies I love seem to qualify on this list, I will nominate my two favorites. Gleaming the Cube and Best of the Best. I could watch either of them at any time, and enjoy every second of it.

Obviously I agree with you Brian, but pretty much everyone else including the critics hated it. Some people just have no taste in fine cinema.

Gangland. Hands down the best worst movie ever. I'm not kidding. See it now.

Review:

Quote:
This film is a must see for those viewers who can appreciate the merit of a poorly made action flick. The acting, directing, and script are all pitifully weak, which lends a certain charm. If you are interested in a story that is moving, compelling, and insightful, this is not the film for you. This is the perfect movie to watch on a boring Saturday night, drinking beer with your friends. It requires little attention to follow the story and has humorously predictably lines and follies at a very regular pace. The setting seems to have been dreamed up in a matter of minutes, ignoring anachronisms, inconsistencies and improbabilities in the process. The characters are hackneyed caricatures of a century-long history of film heroes and villains, with choice names including Lucifer and Hellian. All in all, this movie is fodder for innumerable drinking games and laughs. Check it out. 10 out of 10.

Seriously. It is horribly amazingly good.

before reading anybody else's, I'll post mine. Then I'll go back and re-read (don't want anybody else's opinions to sway my answer)

"The 'Burbs", starring Tom Hanks is a poor movie but for some reason I find it very entertaining. I, too, always seem to watch that when it is on (not that often, but still). I would probably buy it on DVD if I saw it at the store (again, not that often). It's just one of those corny movies that makes me smile.

This comment pretty much made my day! I thought it was just me and my friends that found this movie incredibly entertaining.

My list of movies

Equilibrium (not actually bad, just no one's heard of it)

Snakes on a Plane

Tron

I loooooooooooooove the Burbs. So good. One of Corey Feldman's best roles.

In keeping with the theme of the thread:

Men at Work with Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. Amazing movie. I can't stop watching it when it's on.

Weekend at Bernie's is also a classic.

Two more...Red Dawn and Cannonball Run.

My list included movies that a significant portion of my friends shake their head at, or refuse to watch. I happen to love Airplane!, but most I talk to don't care about it, and find it not funny
