Can't post pictures

I use to have no problem posting pictures on brewerfan. However, recently (last 3 or 4 months?) I am unable to post a picture. When I try to upload a picture to my album it takes for ever and never completes. I have to exit out of my posting and then go back in and the picture shows up in the album. However, when I try to post it, I just get the "red x" that tells me that the picture did not work. I've tried on a couple of different computers and have used both explorer and firefox but I can not get it to work. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I had to ask around to get an answer.

 

The ability to upload images via the post editor was broken when Yuku changed server hosts in June. It seems that you can still upload GIFs that way, but not JPGs or PNGs.

 

Going this route to upload would work.

1. Hit the Images link in the navigation bar. It would make sense to open this link in a new tab so your ability to view your post is left alone.
2. Choose the album to which you'd like to upload.
3. Hit the Upload File button at the top of the page.
4. Browse for the picture(s) you'd like to upload, then hit the Upload button at the bottom of the page.

At this point, you should be able to access your picture as you did before.

 

Another semi-related issue is that if you upload a JPG, make sure it has the .jpg extension. Images with the .jpeg extension will break.

I know this doesn't address the question you're specifically asking, Patrick, but it's an easy way to post images... and if nothing else is a quick workaround for right now

TLB, I tried to post a picture this morning using your method and in the process, I got a nasty virus that shut me down for most of the day (had to call the IT guy in to fix it). I'm guessing you have never experienced that with this site. It happened after I pasted the image tag to my post (in the "add from URL").

 

Casey, the steps that you have suggested are the steps I have always used in the past, but for some reason it doesn't work for me anymore.

Virus? I don't know where in that process the possibility of getting hit with a virus would be. I don't mean that sarcastically, I really don't know.

 

'My' (http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif) method doesn't include using the "add from URL" button that Yuku offers. It's just html tags -- you literally just type the tags, put the image url address between the two tags, & post. I guess I didn't explain that very clearly, re-reading my post. Pretend that the next three lines in this post are a new post field --

 

[img.]image url address[/img.]

 

 

That's all you type... nothing to do with the "add from URL" button. Then you just submit the post (or preview, I usually preview first to make sure I did everything right). Sorry to hear a virus messed with your computer. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
