Playoff TV Discussion

I've got tickets to both Nebraska and Brewers playoffs so I am praying for an early game so I can do both. That would be one epic sports day.
I've had my flight home and tickets for the Nebraska game for quite a while...so I'm hoping for the same thing. I wish there was a chance for an early game Sunday as well....the last flight back to Atlanta is at 6:30. Don't think I would be able to fit both in if the Brewers take care of business tonight.

6 AM monday flight it is then!

If we end up getting the D-Backs that would be a 9:00 AM start for the AZ fans watching at home, crazy.

eh, that's nothing. I do that just about every week for Badger games (heck, every college football Saturday, even if UW plays later in the day.) No big deal.

The last time the Brewers played that early was at Patriots Day in 1990. Brewers won 18-0 behind big days from Gary Sheffield, Dave Parker, and Greg Brock.

Of course, that was 10:00 AM Milwaukee time. Back when the Milwaukee Journal was an afternoon paper, the Brewers and Red Sox could finish the game in time for it to make the same day's edition.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

For people who work the night shift. This 11am start would really suck.
Nothing will make everyone happy unfortunately. I'd actually welcome the

9AM start out here as it would allow me to catch the game before

driving up to Mendocino for some late afternoon plans--not that anyone

cares about anyone's individual plans here or anywhere.

A late start for this one does seem odd on TBS' behalf since the Phils

seem to be a huge evening draw in a massive market that isn't too big on

college football (at least to my understanding) and the aforementioned

Badgers-Huskers tilt.

The TBS schedule has games (teams tbd) at (Central Time): 11 am, 2:30, 6:00, and 9:30. Now 2 series will start in the Eastern Time Zone, and 2 in the Central Time Zone.

One of the two in the Central Zone is going to have a 9:30 pm start time. I'm not sure if MLB wants to have TB fans have to stay up until 10:30 to see their team so I think it's a distinct possibility the Brewers game will start late, very late.

For TBS and MLB the best ratings would have Cards/Phils in game 1, Rays/Rangers in game 2, Tigers/Yanks in game 3, and Dbacks/Brewers in game 4. Badger game will end by the 2nd or 3rd inning.

I wonder if this is what is taking them so long to announce the times. Seems like MLB was counting on a Mountain or Pacific time zone game to slot that 9:30 game and now they don't have one and are hesitant to start a game at 9:30 local time. Perhaps they are discussing changing the schedule a little. I think they could cut the gap between the 2:30 and 6 game by at least a half hour and/or start the 11am game 30 minutes or an hour earlier.

I guess I don't see how the Rays game starting at 10:30 local time matters. If MLB was hoping for a West Coast team to be playing in that 9:30 slot, they more than likely were playing someone from the east coast anyway. To me it boils down like this:

Brewers/Dbacks have to play again on Sunday where the Rays/Rangers do not. They could handle a late game Saturday night with Sunday off a lot easier than the Brewers/Dbacks could. Not that they couldn't, but that game is going to end around 1am and teams would have to play Sunday. So to me, it makes sense to have Brewers/Dbacks at 11 on Saturday. Shouldn't they have the times announced by now anyway?

So there is an option for those of us without cable.

For $5.99, you can see alternate video feeds for the NLDS, ALDS, and NLCS. You can watch up to 4 feeds at once, out of a possible 10. Just not the main broadcast feed.

That makes some sense and yes the 11am game would seem to be the most logical choice for the Milwaukee game.

In regards to the Rays starting at 10:30pm. I understand what you are saying in that even if there was a West Coast game it would probably still involve a East coast team. However, there is a difference between actaully attending a late starting game and just watching it on TV.
