2011-09-24 Marlins (Sanabia) at Brewers (Greinke) - [Brewers win, 6-4]

I'm kind of surprised the Giants mailed it in when technically they are still in it.

how have they mailed it in? just because they're losing to a better team?

They could have started Tim Lincecum on 3 days rest but instead they started Eric Surkamp
The guy who was 2-0 with an ERA under 3 since he got called up from a successful minor league season that had 165 Ks and 44 walks? Surkamp is a good prospect and part of the Giants future. He's pitched well for them in the past few weeks, which is when the Giants have played some of their best baseball to get back into the race

Yes, that guy. Who has pitched against the Astros, Padres twice, and Rockies in his career.

They could have gone

Lincecum Sat (3 days rest)

Vogelsong Sun (3)

Bumgarner Mon (3)

Cain Tues (3)

Lincecum Wed (3)

And gotten 2 more Lincecum starts instead of 1

Just got back from the Dbacks/Giants game (you may see me on the highlights tonight, was in the suite right behind HP wearing the blue Brewers cap). The Giants look like they have already mailed it in for the season. AZ makes me nervous, they def have good momentum right now and are hitting pretty well.
