Lucroy's pretty good at framing pitches

Via Neyer's blog post, found this study on the effect that catchers have on strike/ball calls. Specifically calls out Jose Molina and Lucroy for their very good receiving technique.

This is a cool study/revelation. I think it's been assumed (or known) for a long time that catchers have a big impact in nuanced or subtle ways... this is pretty interesting.

If I recall correctly, I believe we've actually discussed this before in regards to Lucroy, with the general consensus being that he seems to do a very nice job at framing pitches. I believe his motionlessness was also brought up. Interesting to read that this wasn't just homerism.

Lucroy still needs work on blocking balls. The Brewers staff has a lot of wild pitches and some of that is on the catcher. But other than that, he does a fine job defensively.
