Who's The Band? Soundgarden vs. Smashing Pumpkins?

I really like this thread because the bands have a lot in common, but are yet so very different - it can lead to a lot of interesting analysis.

 

For me I think Soundgarden are the better musicians, but which would I rather listen to? Pumpkins. They have more songs that I'd want to listen to right now. The answer use to be Soundgarden but I've gotten so sick of how WAY too many songs devolve into the repeating of a phrase or the chorus for far too long at the end of the song. A lot of people think Black Hole Sun is awesome. For me it use to be, but I can't listen to it anymore. Fell on Black days is guilty as well, and while I can still stomach Fell on Black Days I don't like it nearly as much as I use to. For the most part, while Soundgarden's song composition was often genius, they didn't know how to end a song.

 

As for best songs...I'd go Rocket for Smashing Pumpkins and Pretty Noose for Soundgarden.
