Wow. That is like every hair metal band ever. I would actually check that out if it was in Milwaukee - just for the nostaglia and people watching.

The first thing I thought when I saw that lineup was "Wow, how did they get every hair band from the 80s to one show?"

Then I remembered that none of those guys are doing anything and so they just probably called them up and asked if they could still fit into their spandex (In Vince Neil's case, probably not).

Haters! I had to laugh, every 80s hair band video instantly came back to me seeing that list of bands, you know, when MTV actually played videos. I hate to say it, but if it was in WI I'd be there in a heartbeart.

Ugh.. as a seven-year (former) resident of Oklahoma, I love the state.. but that's damned embarrassing.

Unfortunately, it's not too surprising -- that's not too far from the playlist of the top-rated rock station in OKC, KATT.

What a surprise. The hipsters come in cracking their stale jokes.

You know, I don't crash the Phish or Ryan Adams or Rage threads because I think they suck and will not add anything of merit to the discussion.

It would be nice if people could just pass this up if they're not a fan.

Yes, I am a fan and always will be. How uncool of me. At least I've got cool sportscars and mullets and felonies on my record. What a tired and worn out thing to say...but I'm sure you believe it.

I have an Ace of Base CD. Try and make fun of THAT.

Different strokes, different folks.

I'm not about to rip anyone for what they like, crappy or not.

Actually, Out of the Cellar was my 2nd cassette tape, when I was about 8 years old (I think). I tease, because it's fun... And I take the teasing back, because I know there's all kinds of crap that I like that's ridiculous.

And yes, leather pants and poofy bangs on dudes are ridiculous. I don't think you would debate that.

My musical tastes are pretty broad, which the exception of country, I'm down with pretty much everything. The Ace of Base CD thing made me laugh out loud though, so I instantly had to fire up Napster and give a quick listen... but of course, Napster doesn't have the old stuff.

When I was in the Hard Cafe in Vegas a couple of weeks ago a Republica video was on and I couldn't believe that I didn't have Ready to Go. The first thing I did when I got home was download it for next year's highlight film!

It's like the music, everyone's different. I never had a mullet or anything associated with the hair genre.

Leather pants are ridiculous. How uncomfortable do you think those are?

I would kill to go to this. My question is, how did Faster Pussycat get such a crappy slot. They should be playing way later in the day. Bang Tango also got screwed. I listen to all types of music and going to all these hair band shows in the eighties was like going to a lady festival (keep the "the bands were ladies" stuff). Keep hating but the chicks were hot and liked to, umm, party.

This would kick ass. I'd love to go.

I'm surprised at how many of the original members are still with these bands. Or maybe not, since they probably figured the only way to make any money was to put aside their differences and hit the road.

Four of the bands do have different lead singers than they did back in the day- Skid Row, Warrant, Britny Fox, & Faster Pussycat.

Poison, Winger, Great White & Twisted Sister are all back with their "classic lineup."

Damn, you mentioned "Rage who?" and I thought you were seriously talking about the real Rage band, not making a reference to the RatM thread.

As for Rocklahoma, even without the real Rage, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Time to break down some of the bands!:

White Lion - You can't argue with songs like Little Fighter, Wait, When the Children Cry, Going Home Tonight, Don't Say It's Over, Tell Me, Farewell to you, etc.

Slaughter - Extrememly underrated band. Dismissed for being too pretty. Wrote and released a suprising number of great songs for their limited career -- some made radio, some didn't (but should've).

Poison - Yeah, yeah, they were marketed in an abundance of glam. They also wrote songs like Something to Believe In and Fallen Angel. Today's modern rock bands couldn't write songs that significant if someone else was doing it for them -- not to mention today's rock bands would ruin it with crappy singing and the guitar playing ability of an empty Pabst can.

Dokken - George Lynch. 'Nuff said.

Winger - Lumped in with glam bands despite being near virtuosos at some of their positions. Reb Beach? Rod Morgenstein? Amazing musicians. And Kip's vocals were certainly something to write home about. Winger wrote some fantastic songs like Madelaine, Who's the One, Miles Away, Rainbow in the Rose, and Under One Condition -- and knew how to have a little fun (while crafting great melodic rock/metal) as seen on Seventeen.

Skid Row - There's maybe been 10 or 15 vocalists in the history of metal that are better than Sebas. (And 90% of that list would be unknown to members of this board.) I'm guessing Bach isn't part of this band anymore, but I would have faith in them carrying on the tradition somewhat decently. Personally, I'd love to see In a Darkened Room, Quicksand Jesus, I Remember You, and Wasted Time played live right in front of me. Four of the best songs ever written.

Warrant - Jani Lane is almost right up there with Warren Zevon when it comes to telling a story through music. Piece that together with finely composed melodic rock/metal as Warrant did, and you have one of the best bands to get radio play in the late 80s / early 90s. Sometimes She Cries, Bitter Pill, Heaven, Down Boys, Blind Faith, I Saw Red, Mr. Rainmaker -- fantastic stuff.

Enuff Znuff - Who wouldn't like this band? They're like what the Beatles would be like if the Beatles didn't suck. Awesome, harmonized, mid-tempo pop rock with a great vibe to it.

Faster Pussycat - They wrote House of Pain. They are gods.

WASP - Three words: The. Crimson. Idol.

Great White - Save Your Love, Face the Day, Afterglow, Once Bitten Twice Shy -- I'm better for having known Great White.

I know it's been fashionable for 15 years to laugh at any 80s / early 90s band due to their look and clothes, but the point still stand that ever since 1992, radio rock bands simply don't produce music anymore with great singing, great guitar playing, and melodies that show any sign of effort. The "glam" or "hair" era was great, and since then, mainstream music has been lazy, drab, and diasppointing.

C'mon dude, the Beatles didn't suck and comparing them to a band that uses a Z for an S is just wrong. I'm sure several members of these bands were inspired to pursue music because of the Beatlez.

Wow Valpo. Are you sure you didn't mean that entire post to be in blue font?

I like the hair metal days too (I own CDs by White Lion, Whitesnake, Firehouse and my iPod has pretty much every hair metal ballad ever written), but I don't take it all that seriously. To me, hair metal is the disco for a new generation - everyone listened to it but no one wants to admit it.
