Carpenter Extended

Carpenter, Cards Reportedly Agree for Two Years

According to the Post-Dispatch, the deal would be worth $21 million over two years, replacing the $15 million club option on Carpenter for next season. The right-hander would thus be in St. Louis through 2013, his age-38 season.

So it basically picks up next year's option and adds another $6 million for 2013.

How is Jeff Suppan going to explain to his son that he averaged more per season (a few years past) than CC will for the next two?

Seems like a pretty decent deal based on how he has been pitching. Obviously, there is a big injury risk and a risk for age decline, but not too bad for St. Louis.
