We all know about Narvy's tendency for bad innings. Yet, it took a long time for RR to get someone up. A previous poster called the Cardinals a better team than us. I refuse to believe that. We are just in a stretch where we don't have any hot hitters (except for Corey Hart). I wouldn't be surprised if we hit a rough stretch though. Teams not used to a pennant chase tend to struggle towards the finish line. That is why I am hoping the Braves and Phillies can give us some help in the next week. Hope the Braves aren't suffering from scheduling burn-out.

sorry to rain on you with some dose of reality and i mentioned Narvy as being the team weak link.Overreacting is not Losing 5/6 to the team chasing you when you have a chance to bury they. Oh yeah a bad stretch of baseball is not what you want in the last few weeks of September baseball.

Last few weeks of September? Hmm, here I was thinking that it was Sept. 8th.

Over-reacting IS calling for your team, which has the 4th best record in all of baseball, to make a historic collapse after going through their first rough patch of baseball in almost two months.

yes last few weeks means almost 3 weeks of baseball so not sure what you mean. I hope the Brewers don't disappoint their fans but to be hitting a real bad patch is a bad time with those few weeks remaining.

Ps not looking for any argument here just stating my feelings

I know this game had some significance for the Brewers, but with the Packers playing I really didn't care. If the Brewers were within 3-4 games of the Cardinals it would have been different. Tomorrow night is a big game, don't want to fall behind 2-0 in this series.

Could you state your feelings as feelings/opinion rather than "reality"?

It's still possible the Brewers will sustain an epic collapse, but it's also still possible that they maintain their lead, or enough of a lead, to advance. We've got people here on each side of that aisle, and we're all pondering realistic situations.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

The stadium was the emptiest I've ever seen it by the end of this game. I literally made it down from Terrace to the parking lots after the final out and didn't come across 6 other people in the stairs. Pitiful. I get that the game tonight was a stinker, but if that's the support a playoff contending team is going to get, I feel that to be pretty sad.

It's unfortunate as a team we're not hitting right now. We're not going to get by on solo home runs. I get why RRR didn't use Weeks (didn't want him to press, try to run out a ground ball to stay out of an inning ending out, etc.), I just think he would have been a better option.

Frustrating game. There aren't any cupcakes on the horizon, so it's big boy time.

People just left to watch the Packer game. Wouldn't happen on any other day.

I realize that's why they left. I considered doing the same, but didn't. There were a ton of no shows, though. It's still disappointing, but I didn't really expect much else. The Packers have been #1 priority this time of year basically for my whole life (I was too young in '82 to know/care). http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

In 2008 most places I went prioritized the Brewers over the Packers, especially on that final day which was a Sunday. The house I was at would occasionally check the Packers during the commercials, but that's it. This is because these games do not matter for the Brewers. They are going to the playoffs. The only thing in doubt is who they will play; that's not enough suspense to get someone to skip the opening game for the defending champs on a national stage.

I totally get that. I guess I've just turned into one of those super diehard people who stays until the end even under the worst situations and have put myself into full "all in" mode.

I think I'm just frustrated and instead of ranting about the game, I decided to rant about that. lol

help me out, since I barely saw that 6th inning (was watching the Pack--guilty as charged.) Did Gomez botch 2 plays? I saw the misplayed single that he let skip by him for a triple. Did one get over his head for a double as well earlier/later in the inning? Is he that rusty out there or did he look apprehensive about making a play because he didn't want to hurt his collarbone again?

Too bad that Narv looked so good and then couldn't get the third out. That Yuni play at first was pretty darn close. Was he called safe legitimately? Did the ump blow it legitimately? Did Prince pull his foot off the bag too early (my first impression--I've still only seen the play one time)?

The strange thing about tonight's no shows wasn't simply that they occurred. It was where they occurred. The right field Loge bleachers were practically empty, and the left field Loge bleachers were less than half full. Those are usually popular seats.

I read somewhere recently that a "typical" no show rate is likely around 17%. That has to be a "best guess" as no show numbers aren't announced. A look at Miller Park would indicate that the Brewers are generally well below that threshold. Apparently, the Dodgers are usually well above it.

The crowd definitely had the Packer game on their radios. There was significant cheering every time the Packers scored.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I would say he's just rusty. He misread the ball over his glove. He should have broke back first and then made the angle to the ball. I think on a good night he makes that catch, but on a good night most centerfielders wouldn't have been able to make that catch from the shallow starting position he had.

Was an interesting game to be at. Was fun to hear the crowd react to the Packer game. Packer game was being played at the concession stands and was on a TV at the Harley Davidson area.

Tonight was a BP game, so there were probably a fair number of people who either got tickets free or paid a small upgrade. If you haven't paid full price for a ticket, it's probably a little easier to skip the game to watch the Packers instead.

I was at a bar that had both games on. After the sixth inning, people basically asked for the Brewers game to be switched off because they were playing so badly. I really didn't care, as it was pretty obviously going to turn into a loss.

The hitting on this team needs to turn around soon if we aren't going to have another "one and done" playoff appearance like in '08.

Cory Provus said during Thursday's broadcast that something like 45% of the Phillies' runs scored this year have come with two outs. Not that Narveson's "big inning" habit couldn't have contributed too, but the Brewers can't have been the only team to be stung by PHI that way.
