I'd love Hairston at short...after Weeks comes back. Hairston at short means Counsell/Wilson have to play second. And amazingly, I think they are both much worse than Betancourt is.
Today against the lefty is OK, but against righties Id like to see Plush CF, Hairston SS, Counsell 2nd, at least to see how Hairy looks out there.

I don't understand what Lopez could have done in a week to go from starter above Hairston on the depth chart to DFA'd that Betancourt hasn't done all season long? Even on Yuni's GIDP today he didn't even hustle down the line, and he never hustles in the field or shows any interest in doing anything at the plate besides flailing at every pitch trying to pull it.

I don't get how Yuni is untouchable and Lopez played his way out of the starting lineup in a week. They even let Yuni start BOTH games of the doubleheader but Hart had to sit for one!

Thing is, the Brewers look like they're centering on this scrub's pitches pretty well. If Marcum can keep it close they've got a good chance of rocking him the 3rd time through. (although I think the buccos were planning on a quick hook for him in his first start)

I am so sick of bunts. every time a pitcher comes up and there is a guy on. its bunt. bunt. bunt. We are down 2 runs against an AA baller. what do we? Bunt. Im so sick of it. It makes no sense. If you want to be aggressive, play for the big inning. The bunt is the opposite of aggressive. man i hate it.

It was the pitcher up, a decent chance of a K/DP/non-productive out.
decent chance he doesnt get the bunt down, or bunts into a DP, or pinches his thumb. awesome chance the bunt kills the rally.

I realize there shouldn't be much to complain about during a 24 - 4 run, but it sure seems like there's been an inordinately high number of times the Brewers have gotten a guy to 3rd with no outs, and failed to score.

Corey has been absolutely teh suck in these situations latetly, either popping out weakly on the first pitch, or striking out.

So you are saying there is a better chance Marcum reaches safely than the bunt kills the rally?

Awesome chance a DP kills the rally. I would also disagree that there was a decent chance he does any of those three things you mentioned.

Even with the roll they've been on (and maybe because of the roll they've been on), splitting this series can only be seen as a failure of sorts given the pitching matchups. Way too much feast or famine still going on with this group of hitters (and not only the guys we like beating on).

lets look at the result. 0 runs + and he got the bunt down. sweet.

Anyone have stats as to how often we fail at that? I swear we are the absolutely worst team in baseball with a man on third, 0 or 1 outs.

All the more reason to NOT have Marcum bunt. Give us another shot that he puts the ball in play and we can score. Sure, maybe he K's but you still only have 1 out. Maybe he grounds into a DP, but at least we get the run. In a 2 run game, that's just fine in the 5th inning.

Hart has been brutal in that spot all year.

It's especially fun to hear Schroeder get all excited about leading the league in sacrifice bunts and saying that they are part of the reason the Brewers have been playing so well lately. RIGHTTTTTTT. I don't even know what games he's watching anymore.
